Zane perked up a little. Or, as much as he could while poisoned.
"At least now we're getting somewhere."

He headed over to the eastern button and awaited the signal.

As this point we might as well invoke interpretive dance and call it a day.

Alessa was about to press the button, when her eyes narrowed and a sudden insight hit her in the face.

Or the paralysis. She was sure it was at least a static jolt on her right arm.

"...Or, maybe we are overthinking this. Or I'm beginning to go crazy. Either way, let's simplify this. I've got the indication that, maybe, we could easily solve this in four strokes than in more than such. I hit the Eastern button once, then follow up by you, Zane, then whomever hits West then North in quick succession."

She pointed at the numerals.

233926112     "Trying to find a pattern here, the only point that makes sense is to find..err, patterns. That's what I was taught as a guard, anyway--there's always a pattern to any crime, or puzzle, even if there seems to be none (otherwise, blame the environment for killing the victim). Paralysis of mind aside, look at it again."

23392611...2     "Err, alright, it makes less sense if you think about it that way, but really. If this is like the Ixion clock, then perhaps the last two numerals equal a twelve, which pertains to the Northern cardinal direction. So East, West, South and North, in that order."

Alessa was not aware of the idea that she said otherwise before pointing out the pattern.

"That's...my guess, anyway. When I was a kid, I loved listening to the orators and philosophers, and what struck me was the sheer simplicity in their enigmas, that it was very simple despite the complexity. So...yeah, I've no idea what the two, three, two and one mean. Maybe the timing, in seconds? Zane, switch with me, if we go wrong by the second try, I get the hit. Seems fair?"

Switch to South, Zane to E- wait oops.
((I won't edit that out >_>))

"Wait, that one was the paralysis. Nevermind. Stay there Zane."

"Makes more sense than my-" Laura let out a yawn. "-idea. Even starts with east, like brother guy said..."

Hold on a minute...why did Harold run South?

"Harold, is there any reason why you ran South after pressing East?"

"Ooor... these are numbers for how many times you press a button... so, it's, uh... two times east, three times west... two?... times south and then once... that other direction... whatsitname... north?" She rubbed her face trying to get rid of the accursed sleepyness.

Laura snored in reply to Harold's comment, sleeping while standing.

"It is worth a try."
She stood by the northern button.

Albert nodded, and walked walked up to Laura gently shaking her shoulder. Though not too hard.
"Laura? You can't fall asleep here, please hang on until we got Lilly back."

Laura blinked twice.

"I'm awake... just tired... because of that magic trap thing..." She leaned against Albert's side and wrapped arms around his neck before yawning.

"Make sure I don't trip m'kay?" And she began to doze off again.

"O-okay. D..Don't worry Laura, I won't let you trip up." Albert's voice shook, partly due to how Laura was leaning on him, and partly due to the fact that both her arms were around his neck. If she tripped... Albert couldn't let that happen.

Albert looked at the almost sleeping Laura, and shook his head as far as he could without actually moving his neck. Which wasn't that much.
"W..Well, Laura, would you mind at least placing your arms not around my neck? M-Maybe my shoulder instead?"
