: "Let's hear it. And it better not be a waste of time."

Zane heard the group wanting answers, and looked around.
"Did anyone see where Nico went?"

As if mentioned him had a summoning effect, Nikolai suddenly appeared behind Zane.

: I'm back! Did you explain it to them?

[mastahcheese]

"No. I was just saying that you can explain it better than I can. Was it Whitesand pass we're headed to, or did we pass that already?"

[Solymr]

: Oh okay! Let me explain then.

Nikolai cleared his throat and started the exposition at quite the speed.

: We are headed back to Veyriden the closest Kizamo city. We don't have anymore business with the Whitesand pass but I hope pulling you out of here to help me get here didn't bring much trouble.

: We need to cross part of the desert from here. It will take almost half a day but today it's getting a little late so if you agree we will part in the morning.

: As for payment... Uhhh... If you consider getting a trip to a Kizamo city payment then great. If not I don't have much gold left and all I have of value is this...

Nikolai pulled out an icon in the form of one of the many goddesses of the Alberal pantheon.

: I found this on the trip here thanks to one of my inventions! Nikolai sounded pretty satisfied with himself while saying this.

: So how does it sound. Will you help us?

Lilly looked to Harlan and Tomik. She wasn't against the idea - they had to go that way anyway - but she was waiting to see what they thought.

"While your offer is... appreciated, I'm not sure we're the group you want to be traveling with. In addition, we were hoping to just get through the desert as quickly as possible. I suppose... I suppose we could be willing, but we don't exactly have much in the way of supplies ourselves. We certainly would struggle to provide for you additional three."

Nikolai seemed to be down for a second but then perked up again.

: Oh! Are you worried about supplies? Don't sweat about that! If we Kizamo mages didn't figure that out we wouldn't have survived in the desert. Every mage has a portable water generator and purifier and long lasting very nutritious dried food! You don't have to worry about our supplies or even yours because when we reach Kizamo I will personally provide you with enough supplies to last you for a long time. Deal?

: You must have had the beta version. The new release fixes that and the sizzling ear problem.

"What? Um. Look, we just need to get through the desert quickly. How long d'you think your route would take?"

[Solymr]

: From here to Veyriden it's half day or a full day at most. Then... It depends on the circumstances. Could be one day or three or four...

"Oh, so that was Whitesand that we passed, then. I thought we still had that one to get to. They all look the same to me. As for how long it could take, I remember the dunes in that part of the desert tend to shift a lot. Sometimes it's easy travel, sometimes not. Unless you're talking about something else, Nico, I can't read your mind."
"And yes, the fizzling ear issue is done with. Try eating that for a week straight."
Zane scratched the side of his head.
