Albert absentmindedly patted Ranzen, and just tuned out the sound of him eating.

[Swordstar]

Tomik rubbed the back of his head and sighed.

"Ah... I don't know, I guess we'll see. Guess at least it's nice to know that I have you supporting me no matter what."

[Sirus]

The thief chuckled bitterly.

: "Not exactly hard to figure out, huh? Well, I had to try and keep it under wraps for a little while."

: "Guess there's no need to tiptoe around it any more: I'm dying. Not quickly, but..." He gave a half-shrug, as if to say "but quickly enough".

[Powder Miner]

:"You sure do! Anyone but me tries to give you shit, I'll beat 'em up for you. Or not. Either way, I'm here for ya!"

[SeriousConcentrate]

Lilly blinked.

"Oh. Um. I'm sorry. I didn't, um, I didn't intend to..."

She trailed off, unsure how to get her foot out of her mouth.

[Swordstar]

"Heh, well, I'll offer the same to you as you know, but typically you get there before I do. It's a good thing we stuck together all this time, huh?"

[Powder Miner]

:"Heh, yeah, jailing aside... ...hmm, you don't think I scared Albert too badly, did you?"

[Swordstar]

"I was about to suggest you go talk to him. I'll apologize if I need to as well, by the way. I didn't want to hurt his feelings or anything. Wouldn't want to push him away or anything, you know? Besides, I was thinking I might... go talk to Lily a bit more."

[Sirus]

Harlan coughed uncomfortably.

: "Yeah, see this is why I don't tell people about it unless asked. That, and I doubt you all would have taken a 'poor sick guy' along unless he had already proven himself useful." Maybe that was a little blunt. Oh well.

: "Look, I'm not going to drop dead while walking tomorrow. Probably. I have some time left...maybe two years if I'm lucky. Should be enough time to at least reach Kizamo or wherever without becoming a burden."

[Powder Miner]

:"Yeah, go talk to Lilly all you want! I'mma go talk to Albert though. ...man, what am I even getting myself into?"
She headed to the door.

[Swordstar]

"Hey sis? Good luck."

Walking over to where Lily was sitting with Harlan, he sat down next to her.

"Hey, everything going ok? Looks like Senija's off to talk to Albert. Just... thought I'd come back and join you."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"I don't think we'd leave you behind. I wouldn't."

Tomik came back from talking with Senija then, and addressed Lilly, taking her attention from Harlan. She thought about what he'd said about hiding it and decided not to bring it up to Tomik, adopting a cheerful tone of voice and expression instead.

"I knew I was right about those two. Sure, come over by the fire. It's warmer over here anyway."

She scooted aside a little to give Tomik room near the hearth, if he wanted it.

[Swordstar]

Scooting closer to her, he leaned against her slightly and smiled.

"Mmm, yeah, this is better for sure. And we'll see how those two end up. Not sure she'd ever really considered it until I teased her about it but... we'll see I suppose."

He let out a contented sigh and slowly wrapped his arm around her waist, hoping she wouldn't object.

[Sirus]

Harlan moved over a little himself. No sense taking up more than his share of the couch.

: "Nice of you to say so, Lilly. Not sure I believe you, but still. Tomik, are you done tormenting your sister and the kid for the day?"

[SeriousConcentrate]

Thinking about what Harlan had said about unexpected second chances, and what she'd overheard Senija say about living hectically... Lilly decided not to object and instead rested her head on Tomik's shoulder.

"I wonder if Albert can handle her. She's kind of a spitfire if you ask me."
