Hey guys, I'm going to emerge from my endless lurking to shamelessly plug a game I'm developing.
Last autumn, I happened upon a listing on gamedev.net looking for a programmer to help work on a retro game. It just so happened that it was the only game that was accepting Linux programmers at the time, so I checked it out.
Currently, Barony is in development -- mid-alpha, approaching beta. It is not a finished game.To sum up Barony, it's a 3D, multiplayer roguelike. However, it's not strictly a roguelike. We've taken liberties in creating this game.
For example, one of the features we will be focusing more and more on as development progresses is the monster ecosystem. One of the core ideas behind this game's conception was that the creatures you encounter in-game shouldn't just be static things that wait around to kill you or be killed and drop loot.
Granted, right now they are pretty static and there's not too many interesting interactions, seeing as the game is only about 40-50% through development.
That aside, the game reached a playable state in the summer and we started releasing free alphas semimonthly. We're going to continue doing this, albeit the releases will be fewer and farther between during the college semesters since I, personally, am heavily bogged down this semester and my boss, the other programmer, is in the same boat.
When we deem the game beatable; that is, you can play it from start to finish, beat the final boss, and complete the game, we will enter beta. From there, we will see what happens.
For now, do check out the game if you're interested:

Oh bugger KDE messed up my screenshot. Knew I shoulda used the in-game one. Still, that's an awesome shot. I'm not throwing it away.
If you see a sight like this, congratulations, wanderer!
