Best material for a flail?
« on: October 08, 2014, 04:08:46 pm »

I just got an immigrant with a preference for flails.

I'm powerleveling his Weaponsmithing now (he had 6 skill in Mining when he came to me, unfortunately).

If he moods, are flails more of a steel weapon or more of a platinum weapon?

It's blunt damage, platinum.

It's blunt damage, platinum.

Silver is the best non-artifact, non spoiler metal.

Platinum is better, but requires an artifact construction.

Non-candy spoiler metals have been reported to be better than even platinum.  I don't know that significant testing has actually been done to support that, though.

Someone a few weeks ago was testing all types of metals and weapon types verses many of the various creatures.

I don't remember who.

They found some good data on it

Steel is almost as good though. I remember reading that silver did more "damage" but steel had a tendency to crit more or something along those lines. I must admit I didnt fully understand how it worked and didnt care much to go deeper into it because I had heard steel and silver where the best before. It would be interesting to know which of them is the best for zombies though since I often keep few diffrent weapons on my adventurer for diffrent foes.

I recall the steel crit findings so I just go with that unless I happen to have someone moody and happen to know they love war hammers and happen to have platinum or gold or whatnot so I can forbid everything else.

Yeah, but this is a foreign weapon. That's why I'm so excited about it; but it also means it's limited to moods.
