Actually, given the resource situation, it would be probably better to primarily rely on ballistics as a matter of resource conservation. Sure, it may hurt our AA and air-to-air capabilities, but if we get that AMS system done the enemy will be mostly wasting their own at us
That's what I said. When it comes to artillery it's cheaper to bombard with pinpoint aimed shells as opposed to rockets.

Just want to talk about the pistol, not really interested in veering the main armament plans.

Spoiler: Pistol (click to show/hide)

Cheap, reliable and Easily Disassembled. If you need the punch of a handgun then you are in deep trouble. And given the geometries of the handgun, a powerful cartridge means you only has one shot before you need to move your firing location.

Alright, one more proposal from me.

Proposal Alpha: Due to the resource-intensive nature of missile weapons, a full moratorium is put on their development in an effort to preserve resources that could be put to use in other units.

I don't think that's necessary. No one's really voting for missiles right now anyways.

What do you propose to shoot down the many, many aircraft that would turn us into dust when people attack us?

Can you anti vote stuff? Because I am against Proposal Alpha.

We might not need lots of missile right now, but they're still some of the best long ranged anti air, anti ship, and anti structure weapons we can get. They outrange artillery, they can home in on targets, they can be made in disposable one shot forms that we can easily give to the troops... (Much easier then an anti tank rifle, at least.)

Missiles are good, and abandoning them is stupid, even if we have reasons not to build many on these first turns.

I can understand not wanting to waste money on lots of large, expensive warhead delivery systems like cruise missiles but having no guided AA at all is stupid. You can't shoot down modern military jet planes with AAA.

Well, if the railgun we're working on works out, then you DO have a very cheap answer to missiles, as the ability to hurl inert hunks of metal at around mach 7 for over 100 miles is very efficient way to destroy stuff(including missiles!)

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

We don't know if it'll work to specification just yet, and the current design is also a 90mm. You can't carry that. We need man-portable missiles for AT and AA capability on the frontline. Once we have railguns surely we could partially phase out emplaced AA missile defenses, but missiles are just so good for so many different things that it's an awful idea to restrict their development entirely.
