We have an alpha. Someone shortened it to A. You have Proposal Echo, if we are using military alphabet...

*Sigh* No, we don't. Read the first page. Proposals are numbers. Production are letters. Other proposals are the Greek alphabet.

There's not much really to innovate on a tank really. We could try switching up the motive systems but that's likely it. As a self-propelled AT gun, We'd just be better off developing the missile system and mounting that onto a turreted armoured car.

Unless you want us to try copying the mammoth tank :P

And it was me that changed the alpha to A, since someone forgot that particular thing.

So we where both wrong, in our own special way. I always just thought it was a production order.

B.2 is still one as it blocks our naval access.

No, its more of engineering than a proposal, thats what I meant.

First update is going to take a while, as I'm trying to make sure that everything is in order. Then again, some advice.

Details are fun, both for me and for you. I mean, now it seems like we'll be trying to design at tank with the following specs :
- Reasonably fast offroad
- 120 mm gun
- Armor capable of taking a hit or two

Not like you can't do that. But it leaves a lot open for me to decide.

Sorry, I'm more familiar with tigers and shermans than Abrams and other modern armor, so I don't really have a clue what makes an effective modern tank :P

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

We don't just want it to be able to take a hit or two, we want the armor partly rounded so shots can glance off or disperse.

We want it to be able to go over rough terrain only slightly slower then on a road yes? Whatr is reasonable speed? 30 mph? 40mph? The Abrams can go at 60mph I think...

Typically, it the same as those sorts of tanks. Generally the profile is smaller due to design decisions and that. Kevak, I'd assume that's from some of the more powerful rounds on most of it's armour given that shoulder-launched missile tend to explode.

Anyway, details. For the most part the armour on the sides should be equal to 1000mm of RHA (The actual amount is going to be much lower, due to composites and new materials and such). Speed, around 50-60 KM/h seems reasonable for the maximum, especially with a diesel engine. If we can hit 70 that would be a bonus. The gun itself, reasonably long-barreled, preferably auto-loaded.

I think it is a good time to make sub-proposal.... But I am going far away from modern tank concept :)

4.1 Mad badger tank:
Unlike competing MBTanks it has a modest 85mm gun. 85mm gun with really high muzzle velocity. Designed to use simple, predicatable and cheap to produce AP shells capable to make nice holes in light armor and softer houses. Yet it is capable to use more advanced ammunition. The barrel of the gun can be used to launch guided anti-tank missiles giving it an option to engage enemy MBTs

Armor is comparable to other tanks of its class, but with additional armor plate on top of the turret, because lighter gun allows to have light, but nicely armored turret. Main goal is to have turret that can withstand any helicopter mounted automatic cannon.

Designed to have 3 crewmembers (gunner, driver, commander) with automatic shell loader. Should have advanced targeting computer allowing hyper-accurate hits from the main gun.  If enemy has 5 cm radius weak spot in his armor, best gunners should be able to hit that from 2km

Has all systems of active defense we can allow to put on it.
Uses diesel engine.  Priorities: power, low heat emissions, fuel efficiency

Is that detailed enough? :)
