Meetings last for 2 turns, and are followed by 3 turns of out of meeting actions. Each turn within a meeting, laws and regulations are created and voted upon. When out of a meeting, you are able to perform investigations, run your reelection/election campaigns, hire assassins, poll, make contacts within the mob, meet with businesses and civil leaders, and anything else you want to do that is within the realms of possibility by the laws of reality. After three rounds, it is checked to see if you won reelection/election to a higher level (if you won primaries at the end of the second round).
The political status below this spoiler is only a summary of what the general idea is trending towards. In order to change it, you need to pass laws and regulations. However, this will not be a simple Make a <alignment> law, but instead the players drafting laws and regulations, with an alignment listed. Format is below:
Law: <description of the law, what it does, etc>
Alignment: <liberal, conservative, moderate, etc>
When enough of the same alignment has passed, the summary of the standpoint of that type of law will change. Each successful bill passed increases Fame by 1.
Misdeeds will be exploited when you are running for a different office, or desiring reelection. During elections, these may wind up being discovered, by either you or your opponent, in an investigation. You can pay to have things covered up, but if someone puts more money into an investigation than you put into a cover-up, your misdeeds will be discovered. The more discovered, the harder it is to win the election. Some, such as assassination, will put you into jail, requiring you to start up a new character. Fame and money of the new character will be scaled to put you able to be on par with others.
The summaries are very roughly based upon the Liberal Crime Squad levels (ie. Rescaling the levels. It kinda needs it in places. Think I am wrong? Look at Police Regulation. Moderate is at Only Extreme Cases. Liberal is Heavy Oversight. That's a really big jump. Especially with Conservative to Moderate not like too much of a change.). With that in mind, Elite Liberal =/= Paradise. Liberal =/= Paradise. Moderate =/= Paradise. Conservative =/= Paradise. Arch-Conseravative =/= Paradise. To put it simply, everything that can realistically go wrong in a change from the norm, will do so. They may not come immediately, but trust me, they will come.
