My number is bigger!
« on: October 07, 2014, 09:25:48 am »

Stolen from a topic on the xkcd forums, this game involves coming up with larger and larger numbers.
Due to the nature of this game, there will be complex math down the line, and numbers everywhere during the entire thing. I recommend either being a google wizard or knowing lots and lots of math, especially the kinds that make big numbers.
Rules
1. Only finites can be used. These numbers will, fairly quickly, surpass the number of particles in the universe and the age of the universe in Planck Times; we can easily beat the former to the power of the latter and the latter to the power of the former as well.
2. You can only use previously-established notations and numbers. This means you can use the age of the universe as of noon yesterday, but not g_65 without establishing it yourself. You can make equations, as long as the components already exist.
3. No using numbers established during this thread without using how they were established. Tacking a number on to the end or the front of someone's number is acceptable but I prefer you don't; you can be more creative than that.
4. REAL NUMBERS ONLY. Unless you're using √-1 to make a larger, real number, it's not acceptable. If you do use it as a final answer, it'll be ignored.

I'll start with 9000. It's large but nowhere near the size we want, but a good starting place nonetheless.

It was never a promise. It was a dirty lie, and you all knew that. You should all know by now that you can't trust a word I say.

"Bigger" isn't a very rigorously defined term.

...I should've put "real numbers only" in the OP. I am going to go fix that.
The current winner is Squeegy, at a googolplex (by the way, your notation is wrong - it's 10^10^100, 10^10000, while larger than a googol, is far less than 10^googol).
I counter with a Googolplexian, which is 10^googolplex, or 10^10^10^100.
We have run out of numbers with official names, so let's get creative - we'll surpass the point that can be defined with exponents fairly quickly at this rate.
Yes, I know that there are other numbers that are technically larger with official names, like Graham's number, but said descriptor, in this instance, refers to ones with creative names or names derived from said creative names, or standardized names, like octillion or centillion.

Supreme Intergalactic Antimatter Destroyer (S.I.A.D) = 777^777^777^...^777^777^777, where the number of exponents is 777 = 777^^777

And what if i say ''your number + 100''?
Like this number is also part of your number, we get a self reference.
So it's not valid.
(really, it's not valid because it's not well defined)

The sum of all numbers that'll ever be mentioned in this thread except for this post by Armok.
As this post breaks rule 3, alemagno12's 777 power stack ...thing is the current winner, since it's technically calculable, and drastically larger than a googolplexian.
