I join the charge. If we can gain control of even a tiny portion of the trench, then it'll be a lot harder for the Germans to repel our assault. Plus, that'll give us a staging point to attack the mortars.

You charge in with the group and take out several germans in the trench ahead
the men gain high moral and begin to charge into the trench with bayonets ready

I must stop this charge! Shoot three first fools!

a bullet hits the maxim gunner next to you killing him
you shoot one of the men charging at the trench but dont kill him. the sniper who tookout the gunner hops up and begins firing into the trench. Several of your fellow soldiers are killed and you take a bullet to the shoulder

Take the dead man's maxim gun and start pumping bullets into the incoming wave!

Being as I haven't seen an officer since the assault began, I decide to take charge. Somehow I manage to find a few familiar faces within the scrum. I tell my squadmates to hold all reinforcements back in a firing line, a few metres away from the trenches. There's already far too many people here. I want to lower the damage of a mortar strike as much as possible. I can only hope the men will obey my orders.

Then I hear Maxim start up again. Swiftly, I attempt to dive to the ground, to avoid it's lethal sweep.

there are several catapilar tanks and hundreds of cavalry units within the formation
the commander of the army walks out infront of everyone.
You are behind a hill
He shouts out, ¨THE MOTHER LAND CALLS FOR YOUR AID! THE ENEMY WAITS BEYOND THIS HILL! GO AND FIGHT FOR THE MOTHERLAND!¨
every solider and horse begins to charge up the hill and the tanks begin to roll forward slowly
you can hear artilery firing from behind and the shells bursting in the distance

You get out of the sniper nest to begin melee fighting but take a bayonet to the lower left back and are now cut open
You fall over in pain with trench knife out in hand

March with the rest of my company to the trench.

You march your ~200 soldiers to the trench that needs help
You get over the ridge that separated your trench from the front like trench and see hundreds of french soldiers fighting in the trenches and in rows firing outside of them, though the mortar teams seem to have gotten packed up and ready to run

Send 30 men to protect the mortars. 10 per mortar team. Then Lead the rest of my men into battle with the French troops.
