Well I hope the game wouldn't focus so hard on mechs that they become the star of the game, but I don't see why they couldn't be in if we tried hard enough.

Yes something between Macross, Votoms, or Muv-Luv (and the threat of Silicon-based life) would be the most welcome.
VOTOMS rools.

As for the turns, making them quarterly, and giving the design team no control over that aspect would be preferable.
What aspect?
The combat part, sorry for not explaining that. Though you could have players signing up as generals/admirals to dictate that sort of thing in their own turns.

As for mechs, it why I suggested something like battletech. Mechs might be the main armoured unit, by they are by no means infallable. And regular tanks can be far more effective for cheaper too.

Id really like it to be set post 1945 level tech so we can steal be inspired by ww2 stuff.
With out nukes or good missiles so we have to build crazy stuff.

Really, we should have had options for normal grav and such...
Simply don't vote for them. If they don't get a majority, they don't get in.

And I just noticed I failed to allow people to change their votes. Which is very annoying, because it means I can't add new options on the fly.

Indeed.

Sadly, neither of these is possible with the resources I have at hand. The Combat part is what killed the game last time around, so having to play both sides rather than one will only worsen it.

Either will only be done if I can get people to help me with that.

On a side note, I might consider some people as playing the enemy side.

Option will be added.

I am an eager volunteer to play the enemy side, if you decide to go with that.

Moh's law is for mineral hardness. TV tropes was just making a pun.

Anyway, I am kind of interested, depending on what the topic ends up being. Especially if I can make a bunch o' guns.

Hmmm... 2020 is winning... Orbital fighter should be our first project

I think drones should be the priority. We'll be saving on life support, and with the right drone, we could send it off to the asteroid belt to mine.

I would say getting out own orbital comms network, then something to scoop up the debris and store it for us.
Afterall, think of all the deltaV we would save by using materials already up there. The comms would give us a chance to learn our way about things, aswell as giveing a secure line of control to future things. If we can shove cameras on them (No reason why we cant) than instant spy sats.

I wonder if we can buy some cold-war surplus ICBMs (without the warheads and guidance of course) to use as launch vehicles...

Why no, I haven't thought about this sort of thing for arround two years, plotting a IRL spaceprogram that is never gonna happen.

As for fighters, remember that getting hit by a screw going the other way fast enough can take out a chunk of the ISS, provided its larger than about 1cm.

I'd rather make some mechs.

... I like mechs.
