Another drawbridge question
« on: October 05, 2014, 11:07:24 am »

The wiki seems to confirm this but I just wanted to verify it anyway... raised drawbridges are basically impregnable right?

I've heard some creatures can supposedly destroy them if you try to atom smash them... but as long as you keep the bridge raised up, there is nothing that can destroy it then?  And nothing that can get past it or fly over it?

Thanks for the help.  I'm  playing DF version 34.11

pretty much yeah. I've heard dome people say creatures standing in the place where it would lower could destroy it, but I've never seen that happen. Note that non-magma safe bridges might be destroyed by magma (even when raised?), even if only the mechanism isnt magma safe. Dragon fire burns through almost anything

Jam a door with its corpse and let all the goblins in. Hey, nobody said it had to be a weapon against your enemies.

I always put a 1Z dry moat in front of them with the ramps removed by the side of the raised bridge.  That ensures that nothing can stand next to the raised draw bridge and beat on it.

Never had a lick of trouble in 34.x
