I was hoping to have a good number of confirmed members before deciding on dates and times.

The only details that I can think of right now is no people playing very small or very useless nations and that the game will start in 1936.

The good news is that I have HoI III and wouldn't mind playing an MP match with you fine fellows. The SP game doesn't interest me for some reason, mostly because there's too much for me to focus on and sort out before the interesting things happen. Unfortunately... I'm pretty damn sure that I don't have all of the important DLC packs for the game. So... Posting to watch. And be jealous of everyone else having fun.

As with all paradox titles, if the host has the DLC for the game, you don't need it to join, and can use their DLC while they are hosting.

Huh, really? I've... never heard of that feature before, honestly. Seems a bit weird, actually, but if so... I guess I'm in? Despite my utter lack of expertise, of course. Hmmm... Since Italy is taken I'll go with Canada instead. Because being in North America is probably the best way to survive in this game.

Basically, if they have the DLC, you have it too. I like it, because if I want to play mp, people usually have all the doc so I can piggyback on that.

Also, I'm changing to the soviet union for my nation. For the motherland!

Double post, but should we get a game going some time this weekend? I think we have enough players.

Ok right, Britain to USSR, and canada.

I would rather wait for maybe 3 more people to play Germany, USA , and UK because they have massive influence over how the game will end up and the AI is considered incompetant for this.

People who asked to play minor powers should play larger ones instead. As I said earlier, I am interested. I guess you can put me down for Germany or France.

EDIT:
As with all paradox titles, if the host has the DLC for the game, you don't need it to join, and can use their DLC while they are hosting.
Also, I don't believe this is true of older titles like HOI3. Everyone needs to have the same version of the game, with all the same expansions.

Yeah doesn't HOI3 generate some kind of letter code that basically checksums what expansions and data files you have, and in multiplayer everybody has to match?

Also, if you got your game from, ahem, certain swashbuckling locations, you can still play MP, I believe.

So does EU4 and CK4, but I can join games where I don't have the DLC without a problem.

Yes, but HOI3 is on the older version of the engine using the old DLC model.

Well, if you are right, then who has the DLC? We need to have people playing the Axis, Allies, and Comintern leaders. I have the USSR covered. Anyone else stepping up for Germany and the UK?

I'll put you down for Germany then. I am almost certain that you need all the DLC as it crashes when you try to join a game running on a different version (which is directly affected by what dlc you have). It isn't like the DLC is bad either, it adds a lot to the game  it seems.

Hearts of Iron III is old? I still only have Hearts of Iron II (which crashes so much it's effectively unplayable).

I'm definitely interested in seeing what happens, though.
