Pump Stack Clarification
« on: October 03, 2014, 02:47:50 pm »

I created my first pump stack according to the specifications. However, I do not know which pump to operate; I operated the top and the bottom ones with a dwarf, but nothing happened. Am I supposed to power them with something stronger, like a dwarven water reactor? Or does a single dwarf suffice, but I am doing something wrong?

Edit: Never mind; I found this hidden piece of information:
Quote
Dwarves operating pumps do NOT generate power. Thus, one cannot use a single pump operator to power an entire pump stack.

Yes, using dwarf labor for a pump stack would require every single pump in the stack being manned simultaneously. If it's a short stack I guess that might be feasible, but you're probably going to want to build a water reactor.

Or a bunch of waterwheels or windmills (assuming you have any wind in your embark). Some of us don't feel right using water reactors. Too much of an exploit for some people's tastes.

Have them killed. Nothing solves a problem quite as effectively as simply having it killed.
