fey mood - 50 stones?
« on: October 03, 2014, 09:21:24 am »

one of my dwarves entered a fey mood and claimed a mason's workshop. he then started to drag the required materials there... but so far he has collected about 50 stones (all marked with TSK) and he keeps getting more. i assume this is a bug? anything i can do?

by the way, he's not gettin the stones from the stockpile just around the workshop. he gets them from another stockpile half across (in all dimensions!) the map... all kind of stones so far.

Sounds like he's in a burrow limiting his understanding of what is enough.

Yea he'll be fine.  AFAIK dwarves wont starve or dehydrate or w.e. while in a  mood.  Its going to piss you off though when he makes one quern from all of that stone.

Uhu, i see another Planepacked here!
It's a problem that relies on the burrow restriction,  it will keep picking up materials until it runs out or you disable the burrow itself.

i have no active burrows. forbidding the stones in the workshop as well as his favorite stockpile helped.

Are you absolutely certain about that?

Is your mason explicitly assigned to a burrow?

A copy of your savegame (uploaded to DFFD) will tell us exactly what's going on.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Ooh, I never knew about that glitch. Exploiting in 3, 2, 1...!

Edit: That's actually a good way to get rid of hundreds of excess stone, right?

Mister Adams,
How many licks does it take to get to the [candy] center of a Dwarf Fortress?

Useful for overlapping all your dwarves' bedrooms. Dig a 10x10 room, build 99 base quality beds and that one superbed in it, make 100 bedrooms (this is the slow part), don't even smooth it or build a door or anything. Still legendary housing. (except, oddly, the one guy who sleeps in the superbed itself.)

Excess megabeasts? I think there is something fundamental I'm missing here, I don't get it. Is it a joke?
