Why do you 'like' this game?

Interesting, rarely used setting (early 20th Century)
Good mix of strategy and management gameplay, but with simple rules
Semi-freeform diplomacy (and backstabbings!)
All of the above
I'm just forum game addict and gotta play'em all

I must say, that was an accident, rather than intended.
Still gives me an idea, especially since I'm wanting to make a similar game to this(albeit far more complicated (aka resource management) and more like Nations of Etraxia in some ways).

It just seems to be a silly limit, considering both already have max limits of what you can get out of them.

In the other test game the max limit for RP gain isn't there.

Anyway, with it seeming quite likely that I'm going to be killed immediately due to a turn 1 attack which I could not anticipate*, has anyone considered running a game like this with simultaneous turns?

*That Peninsula is very annoying to defend. I mean, it's farther from me than from Guniland.

Strongly depends on turn order, whether improvements are built instantly, and how HQ Spawning armies are allowed to move. The +1 Defense advantage for dictatorships is massive.

The turn order is already known.

But yeah, I'm not going to die, I'm exaggerating. But I might be reduced to 5 provinces, if luck is not on my side.

Do you have a policy on pre-posting turns?  It'll be a while before I'm concerned about the turns of others.

Oh, and for the record, Archbishop Pogek is female.

There's not a feminine word for Bishop that I know of, after all.

This game is based off of early 20th century/late 19th century, right?

Women weren't given the vote in most(aka almost all) countries until the 1920s, or in some places the 1940s.

So uh yeah. Callin' BS on Catan having gender parity out of nowhere(Queen Elizabeth reigned at a time when women were still oppressed, doesn't mean she couldn't be Queen).

That, plus, game mechanics-wise I actually can't become either a Republic or a Democracy.

Plus, who's to say the Empire isn't technically a Republic or Democracy already? Dictators can be elected...it does say one possibility is the charisma of their leaders, after all.

Also, are we allowed to change our mind as to where the armies get deployed?

What does our real world history have anything to do with the history in the game? It doesn't have any bearing on what kind of progress has been made in the world this involves, as far as I know that's totally up to the players. You're free to have a matriarchal society same as Glow is free to choose her country has had gender parity since 1100 or I'm to decide all my people are talking birds.

The whole point of it was a religious women's uprising that overtook the area and became the dominant power.

If everything was already gender-equal, there would have been no cause for an uprising.

But really I'm annoyed that it seems like I'm being called a fool for something I couldn't have known, since nowhere in the Republic of Catan info does it mention anything of the sort, and going off of world history, I should have been safe in the assumption that it followed world history at least a little.

I mean, hell, women have only been allowed into the primary forces for the military recently, in America at least(yay sexism yay >.>). So I figured it would be safe to assume that in comparison to the nation which is based on feminism(actually now that I think about I accidentally made my faction almost literally the Feminazis. >.> goddamnit) that a Republic(which isn't the same as a democracy) would be less gender-equal.
*fumes*

Also people in other games who intentionally try to piss me off have been continuing to do so. So maybe I'm overreacting. Apologies.

Perhaps it's particularly significant to those in your country because it happened sooner.

No one's calling you a fool, that I've seen at least..
