Roll to survive the trail
« on: October 01, 2014, 12:18:49 pm »

You are one in a group of backpackers setting off on a long trip across the mountains, having finally worked up the energy to begin your hardcore wilderness trip. At four days down the trail, though, tempers are wearing thin, the weather is horrid, and someone just ate the last chocolate snack.

What do you do?

Changed premise, first one was crap.

Reserved, just in case we need more room.

Only you can prevent forest fires.

I am Tom, a man that ate the chocolate. But I did so not because I wanted it! I merely want to frame the [pass second player here], who broke my precious clock last time we went camping!

Jared Santonelli, I broke a guy's clock on accident, and he is a bit mad at me. I gave him a choccy bar to make up for it.

(2) Your ploy does not work, as he quite clearly gave you the bar.

Jared Santonelli, I broke a guy's clock on accident, and he is a bit mad at me. I gave him a choccy bar to make up for it.
(3) Unbelievably, he uses your kindness to try to get back at you. However, he only brings the group's ire upon himself by bringing up this old fight.

"People ain't no good."
(6) You begin to feel very good, though you suspect you grabbed one of the others' little baggies rather than your tobacco when you filled the pipe.

Take all of these baggies and hide them in my military backpack. Offer a friendly lady some "tobacco" in my pipe.((And no, it isn't a sexual reference.))

Oh well, seems we must forget this for now. Try to tell original funny story to lift party spirits and let them forget about my mishap.

I am Ivan. I am here to secretly gather money and drugs I hid here years ago with my partner, who is now dead. I begin thinking how far we are from the location I am seeking.

(4) You successfully sequester and hide the baggies, (3) but this stuff really starts kicking in as soon as you finish that, and you can't quite remember who, if anyone, is a guy or gal in your group. This may be some bad granola...

Oh well, seems we must forget this for now. Try to tell original funny story to lift party spirits and let them forget about my mishap.
(6) It is a really funny story, but contains many personal details about Jared, who's still shocked at your betrayal and really starting to give you a funny look.

(1) At this pace, you probably won't reach it for another 15 days. You're really regretting not doing this a couple months ago, and alone.

Curse my lack of forethought and start reading the survival guide I bought before I went on this trip. Also check to see if I have some sort of gun or other weapon somewhere on my person.

I shall sit on my rollmat, and start singing one of my many shanties.

View sun's position. If it's nearing west, build a fire. Do a headcount wether or not it's getting dark.

(Want to roll to decide what long, long trail you're on?)

Curse my lack of forethought and start reading the survival guide I bought before I went on this trip. Also check to see if I have some sort of gun or other weapon somewhere on my person.
(6) As it happens, you brought a .22 rifle, allegedly for self defense but the ammo you brought is hollow-point. A bit overkill you realize now, and the hollow points will be hard to explain should any authority catch you with them.

I shall sit on my rollmat, and start singing one of my many shanties.
(1) You flop facedown in the dirt and begin to snore from the combined effects of overheating, alcohol, and bad pipe stuffing.

I think it's my turn to cook the dinner...
(4) You take some rations out of the bear canister and put them in a steel-lidded pan strapped to your pack so that the sun will cook them while you walk. They should be just about ready in 6 or 7 hours. Genius!

View sun's position. If it's nearing west, build a fire. Do a headcount wether or not it's getting dark.
(6) It's directly overhead, and quite bloody hot (and a little too humid) despite the altitude. This is a large part of why everyone's so currently miserable. Still, you consider this a break, as this spot would be terrible to make camp in.
