Help Tom up then keep running! If it looks like Tom won't out crawl the fire and will die before I can help him up ignore command one and keep running!

Oh gods! Crawl away as fast as I can!
(3) Your fastest crawl isn't nearly fast enough, but Solomon, who had a huge lead, runs back to help you up!

Audibly curse and run away as fast as I can.
(1) All your cursing and spitting cannot help the fact that you set a fire in the only direction there was to run away from, and it looks like it's going to close the circle.

I am Ent, the tree dweller. By the might of the forest, STOP THE FIRE, AND KILL THE ARSONISTS!!!
(3) You are Ed, a random hiker who was enjoying a minor side trip when a random forest fire forced you to flee back towards the main trail. If some dumbass started this, you'll kill them! You see another group running from the fire as you reach the trail.

Help Tom up then keep running! If it looks like Tom won't out crawl the fire and will die before I can help him up ignore command one and keep running!
(5) You run back to help a friend in need, pulling Tom to his feet and helping him get away from the fire coming from behind

The fire (1) now forms a complete circle around the group, and is closing in quickly. There is nothing to climb and nowhere to run!

But, since it is far too early for a TPK, (ROLL TO DODGE = 5)

Suddenly, from out of the ashes strides Smokey the Bear, twirling a large shovel. He points to Vic and says in a low monotone, "You could have prevented this." But Smokey is not here to punish you for your crimes; not today. Instead, with steely determination he looks into the fire, and, holding the shovel forth, charges into battle with the roaring flames. Strike after strike, he beats them back, but every time he beats one tendril of the fire back, 2 more encroach upon the unburnt circle.

Soon, the ashes are choking, and though Smokey fights valiantly, the fire is slowly but surely closing in. He sees that the group cannot hold out for much longer. He sees them about to fall and be consumed be the fire. Smokey knows what he must do. With a mighty overhead shovel-strike that sends a shockwave through the air, he cleaves a narrow path through the inferno, leading further along the train. "Go now!" He shouts "I'll hold it off!"

With all but their survival instincts chocked out by lack of air, the group heeds instantly, hurrying through the corridor of extinguished ground before it closes. Then, as soon as the last person makes it through, the fire closes the path, but they keep running, running out of the fire...

I am Danny McKnight, a freelance helicopter pilot. I'm currently piloting my civilian Kamov Ka-62 over the mountains for recreation, it has a bright red horizontal stripe that stretches from tail to nose atop a dark blue field. I'm also a personal friend of Tim, and I know he's hiking in this area today.

(More people... should I start waiting for more replies before I roll?)

Keep running!
(4) You do so!

I am Tim, the guy who has been with the rest of the group and was ignored by the plot until now.
Run as far as possible from the fire.

(6) You and the rest of the group run and run, bought time by Smokey's battle against the fire. You put a good 9 miles between you and the fire before the ground begins rising sharply up and you are all simply too exhausted to continue at the moment.

I am Danny McKnight, a freelance helicopter pilot. I'm also a personal friend of Tim, and I know he's hiking in this area today.
(2) You are Danny McKnight, a freelance helicopter pilot who agreed to join your good friend Tim and his buddies on their trip up the Pacific Crest Trail. You're waiting for him at the Laguna Mountain Lodge, but you're pretty sure he should be here by now. From the window, you can see a column of smoke rising some miles to the South.

Get to da choppa. Take off in the direction of the smoke, before I leave tell the manager of the lodge where I'm going and that I think there might be trouble and to contact the authorities. En route, use my radio to try and contact Tim on the portable I lent him.

Might be a good idea to make a character list so everyone knows who is where. When it comes to updates, what you're doing now seems okay, waiting on people can suck. I say wait however long you like and if someone misses their action from time to time, no big deal.

E: But if you do end up waiting for everyone every single turn, you'd best impose a player limit or risk getting swamped. Otherwise if you stick to the minimalist thing and you're only writing for 3-5 out of 20 at any given time then don't bother.

((So we weren't the only ones able to stop the fire. Go Smokey, save my miserable character! Also, I completely and utterly forgot that I was supposed to STOP forest fires. Welp, still alive and kicking, ready for more carnage.))

Run away from the group and check all of the loot. Smoke a motherload of tobacco.

You need like 60+% of players for a proper turn. That's just my opinion, though.

Make a feverish prayer for Smokey. He saved our miserable lives, after all!

See if I have some Vodka in my backpack. If so, drink it because this "Smokey the Bear" is not a real person or creature, and this must be some sort of strange dream.

Begin to write about what just happened!
(1) You just ran 9 miles through the forest after inhaling smoke. You need to rest, or you could die.

Get to da choppa. Take off in the direction of the smoke, before I leave tell the manager of the lodge where I'm going and that I think there might be trouble and to contact the authorities. En route, use my radio to try and contact Tim on the portable I lent him.
(3) Once you get into the air, you can see the forest fire is only 10 miles from the lodge. Most likely, the Mount Laguna area will have to be evacuated. (1) Something's wrong: for some reason, you can't hail him. However, within a few minutes you get a message from him, you just can't respond. If he's under tree cover, it may be very difficult to spot him or find a place to land near him.

(Are we out of the Flaming Forest of Doomtm?)
"Good thing I've got this."
Call Dan with the radio.
(You're 9 miles from the fire, so you have a couple hours before it's directly threatening you again.)
(4) You get out the radio and hail Dan, not sure if he's picking up but you broadcast that a fire has broken out and you've managed to get 9 or 10 miles up the trail away from it.

(Smokey can only do battle with wildfires; he cannot prevent them.)
(5) You've still got it all on you. Which is good, because running back there would most likely be suicide. (2) Before you can light up your pipe, the still fully conscious members of the group give you a look that says Are you fucking serious?

You need like 60+% of players for a proper turn. That's just my opinion, though.

Make a feverish prayer for Smokey. He saved our miserable lives, after all!
(5) Your prayer gives Smokey strength. Though you do not know this, he leaps from the flames and begins clearing a mile-wide fire break across the trail. This will prevent the fire from spreading any further North until it can go around. With his strength spent, Smokey the bear returns to the place where legends live, to be resurrected by the US Forest Service in 3 days.

See if I have some Vodka in my backpack. If so, drink it because this "Smokey the Bear" is not a real person or creature, and this must be some sort of strange dream.
(1) Vic's probably the only one stupid/crazy enough to bring hard liquor on an epic cross-country trek. And he's not likely to share after you shot at him.
