Kat's song suddenly cuts off with a discordant Braaaang, as she clutches her head in obvious pain.

After a moment, she seems to shake it off, and begins playing again, picking up speed after a few moments. She seems much sadder then, for some reason, her earlier cheerfulness evaporated-but like any good musician, she knows not to let it affect her performance...

The gate crashes once more, folding outwards at the middle, as a pair of giant fiery hands rips the lower half up and out. Skeletons begin flooding in through the new hole, brandishing rusted swords and clattering noisily, sloshing undeterred through the canal. You count a little less than two dozen in the first wave, along with four skeletal wolves. Fifteen Imperial soldiers raise shields and weapons in defiance. Davora shouts a warcry and backs into the front line, shield at the ready, as the skeletons crash into him.

The tunnel itself is about 8 meters wide. The canal is 6 meters wide, with walkways on either side about a meter up. The water is deep enough to make wading through it difficult, and is therefor counted as rough terrain. For simplicity's sake, each person takes up about a square meter of space.

I've also decided to abstract the combat and say that only about 8 of the skeletons will actually focus on you, and none of the soldiers will assist you besides Davora.

Spoiler: Initiative (click to show/hide)

Due to Kat's song, everyone gets a +1 to all attacks until it ends.

The skeletal canines rush the front line, two them engaging with Davora, only barely managing to graze him through his armor, one seemingly leaving teeth behind.
One goes for Kyle, sprawling into the water with a splash and a clatter as he deftly sidesteps its lunge. The other goes for Duncan, knocking into him with surprising force, and dealing 5 damage.

It is Alicia's turn!

Alicia bit off a small scream as the gate was torn asunder. She lifted her bow, hands shaking slightly, and sent a pair of arrows towards the nearest enemy not next to an ally. The lizard on her head hissed at the approaching undead.

"Oh, gods, oh, gods..."
Alicia muttered, hands already flying to her quiver to pull out another of the obsidian-tipped arrows.

Two arrows fly, and two rotting skulls explode in a shower of bone. Two skeletons fall in a heap of clattering lifeless bone. There are six left, and one seems to have one of the arrows lodged in its eye socket.

It is Maruko's turn.
The escalation die is still at 0.

The arrow flew from Maruko's hands almost without thought. But by the time it found it's target, the dwarf was already in motion, drawing blade and tossing bow aside, out of the reach of the water, charging forward. Stout muscle and iron will allowed his pumping legs to propel him through the standing water almost unnaturally fast, leaping over Duncan, who had stumbled in the water, to smash into the wolf that had attacked the sorcerer, blade first.

Maruko fires his bow, missing the wolf by inches, and rushes forward to engage the same in melee.
Meanwhile, the skeletons march soullessly onward, one swinging at Davora, painfully grazing him. Another two thrust their weapons towards Maruko, who gracefully dodges one sword, only to be hit by another, taking 3 damage. Two more swing at Kyle, both leaving painful cuts and dealing 6 damage total. The last rushes at Duncan, dealing another 3 damage.
Davora winces from the bloody wound on his side, pulling painfully at a jagged tooth lodged in it, to no avail. Not one to let a bit of blood stop him from fighting back, he slams his shield into the hound that wounded him, making a resounding crack, and noticeably splintering its bones.

It is Duncan's turn.
The escalation die is still at 0.

Reeling from his wounds, Duncan shoves his hands in the direction of the skeletons wildly.
Burning Hands!

Duncan's wild flailing doesn't do much but scorch the ceiling. Kyle, on the other hand, scores a blow across the spine of the hound in front of him, dealing 8 damage.

It's Ethnon's turn.
The escalation die is still at 0.

"Oh! We are fighting already? Ethnon will help!"

He takes a casting stance.

"Inscrutable Innards of Inzu!" he shouts cheerfully, pointing at Duncan.

Cast Inscrutable Innards of Inzu (Blur 1) on Duncan - seems like he could use some help!

You chant the words and wiggle your fingers, and Duncan gets a little fuzzy around the edges. The metal man sure has a hard time not getting hit.

It is Katoya's turn.
The escalation die is now at 1.

Kat points at one of the hounds and chants a verse, making its bones chatter. She chants another verse at Duncan, who stands up a little straighter and can heal with a recovery.
Meanwhile, the wolves attack again, one bouncing off of Davora's shield, and one biting into him again. The other two miss their targets completely.

Alicia didn't hesitate, sending another pair of arrows sailing towards the skeletal monsters attacking Davora.
