Layla launches a Lesser Orb of Acid at the nearest enemy

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

((Whoops, misread my sheet. I have mage armor and summon monster prepared, which brackets orb of acid on my sheet  :P. Yeah, change that to acid splash, no need to waste a summon monster on this guy))

Arsolf, now able to clearly see the target in front of him, takes a level swing at the construct, but the blade seems to pass right through the twigs without damaging it.

Layla ((who totally did this last round)) flings a little bit of acid at the small construct, the acid catching the creature in the body. The acid sizzles menacingly upon contact, blackening the natural materials the construct is composed of.

The small animated object takes a clumsy swing at Arsolf, but, old as he is, is able to duck under the creature's appendage.

((Quarterstaff, they're free so I can just say she picked up an appropriate branch or something))

Layla moves to the construct and whacks it with the quartersaff she was totally holding the entire time.

Chaiket giggled again and negative energy flared darkly around her hand, and she delicately reached out to tap the small construct at her feet.

Chaiket reaches down to touch the little twig doll. As soon as her fingers touch, the creature falls apart, the leaves and twigs turning a blighted black and rust color, respectively.

Layla runs at the animated object, screaming and brandishing the quarterstaff. Swinging wildly, she makes contact with the construct. [abbr = 3]A few twigs snap under the force of the blow.[/abbr]

Nik-Nak dives out from behind the tree she was hiding behind, running in to slash at the construct with her dagger. She makes great contact, shattering a few twigs herself.

The construct appears to be on its last legs.

Drenza reloads her crossbow before firing it again, the arrow whizzing past and embedding itself into a tree.

Arsolf takes yet another swing at the construct in front of him, making deadly contact. The blade cleaves through the last few twigs holding the object together, and the rough humanoid shape is split in two, each half collapsing into a messy pile of twigs.

Combat over.

Nik-Nak, from her position next to Arsolf, speaks. "Walking twigs. They come around often. No clue where they come from."

She roots through the piles on the small construct briefly, pulling out a small, clear, blue gemstone. "Their hearts are precious." She walks over to Layla. "You're a jeweller yes? Here." She holds out the gem to her.

The other two small animated objects also contain small precious gems. One is a pearl. The other is a shiny gray metallic stone.

Layla smiles at this gift. "Thank you! These will be put to good use!" She takes the offered stone and helps with the recovery of the other treasures while appraising what stone she was given.

"How did you know she's a jeweller, Nik-Nak?" Chaiket asked, plucking out the grey stone and looking at it.
"Strange. Constructs. Must be made by someone."

Spellcraft/Knowledge Arcana check on what I know about constructs like these.

"I-" She pauses a second, caught. She lets out a soft sigh.

"I, ah, watch your village. Sometimes. Mostly when it's dark. Away from the guards."

Layla, looking at the stone, realizes that, though it is small, it's a cut sapphire. She's able to price it out to about 200g.

Chaiket, from looking at the piles of twigs and leaves, is able to tell that, yes, these appear to be, simply, animated objects. Though how they were shaped remains a mystery to you. They are usually a single object. Even more oddly, these don't seem to have a creator. At least, the smaller two don't, as the gems aren't cut.
