The king stares hard at Tai for a moment.

"I promise I will either succeed, or die in the attempt...you have my word as one of the Darfellan remnant." She says, holding his gaze.

With that, certain pleasantries are exchanged, and the group makes their leave...

Action: Make our leave! We need to find some place to discuss our next move...

"Blasted... hah, troublesome domineering jesters. Should have never left," Eldas mutters to himself.

The party leaves the king and steps into the bright morning light. You are in the Upper District. The marketplace in front of you is filled with nobles in bright clothing. The streets are lined with shops selling everything from sweets to weapons.

[Dwarmin]

Once they are in a safe place, Tai fills the group on what she learned while spying in the bedroom...

She's been there for a couple hours now. She saw people in white clothes enter. The woman with the mask produced a key, opened the chest and tore the pages from the book. At the loud, clanking steps of guards walking down the hall, she hastily shoved the pages into a bag and replaced the book and chest. The group immediately dispersed, acting like they were looking for something. Eventually, they left.

"It's why I didn't...tell the king-if he believed us, he would have questioned...or perhaps arrested the group in question, and our only lead...my only lead...would be worth nothing. We can find out more by not...teasing with our fins.

I think we should look at...these masked people. They are obviously interested in hiding...things, otherwise they would have presented him with the journal, rather than stealing the pages..."

[Nerjin]

"S-s-so how do we find them?"

[Dwarmin]

"To use a landwalker term...we must 'gather wool', I believe it is? I understand wool is from a land mammal...the cloth is a metaphor...for understanding...and the wool...is a metaphor...for clues and information...we know they are working for the king. Let's question around the palace...but quietly...asking about our competitors." She explains, talking very slowly.

"Anyone who knows something.

Chamberlains, Consorts, Masons, Guardsmen, Mendicant, Castellans, Engravers, Chefs, Squires, Scullery Maids, Merchants, Men at Arms, Bards, Falconers, Coopers, Vitners..."

You wander though the city for a while, looking for somewhere you definitely would not be overheard. You eventually find a tavern which, upon entering, you discover is much more than a tavern. In the center of the large building is a pit in which two men are fighting. Spectators are screaming at the men, making such a ruckus you know no one will pay attention to or eavesdrop on you. You find a table just far enough away from the commotion that you can hear each other speak.

Eldas grimaces as he slides into a seat, "Eeh. What a dreadful place, even if it is rather difficult for us to be overheard."

Kyle nods with his eyes focused on the men in the pit. He looks around briefly for anything else of note in the tavern.

"I've seen worse... Far worse."

It seems that all of the riffraff in the capitol has accumulated in this one establishment. Someone has thrown a dagger into the ring and one of the men brandishes it. This is about to get bloody very quickly. The crowd is going wild.

The spectators are peasants, dressed in dirty, torn clothing. Nothing really stands out. But in the corner of your eye... was that a flash of white?
