No, it's shots per weapon per turn.

How exactly does one get 85 tons of long range weapons if each one costs 8 tons?

Additionally, I thought of something wonderful.

The Iron Despot

Heavy Mech
700 HP
21 Close Range Weapons(84 tons), gatling cannons (5 per arm, 2 per shoulder, 1 each in space between shoulder head, 2 on head, 3 on abdomen)
The Iron Fist (6 tons, melee weapon)
High Energy Couplings(20 tons)
Auto Repair System(15 tons)

Enough damage at close range to annihilate just about any mech. Kaiju would probably get maimed fast too.

It's motto?

"Feel me!"

I'd have leftover points otherwise, so I just used a calculator and found the number of shots per point, then multiplied that by 85.

Yeah... This game could definitely use a few more balance tweaks.

Probably, close range weapons fuck the butthole. The Despot is a slow fucker, though, so you could shoot and run away from the bastard.

Anyway, this is another idea.

The Dark Prince

Medium Mech
600 HP
Blackest Blades (2 30 ton melee weapons)
High Energy Coupling (20 tons)
Enhanced N-Way Engines (20 tons)

Also enough damage to shred a lot of things in two turns or less. Less balls-out powerful than the Despot, but harder to escape, and only because Melee weapons don't have 8*tonnage damage.

Finally, the third of the trio

Fourth Horseman

Light Mech
500 HP
9 Long Range Weapons(72 tons), (Rotary?)Artillery Cannons (1 per leg(4 legs), 1 per shoulder, three on right arm)
Reaper's Scythe (3 ton melee weapon)

Skirmisher; other light mechs with high speed might be able to catch up eventually, but the difference in speed would be 1, so if the game works logically, it'd have at least 8 or so turns to pound the shit out of them. Not completely sure how the single-shot damage compares to the multishot, but if it's an autohit (1d1) then it's better to go with that.

For the record, Medium ranged weapons are useless as they are now. Weaker than both close range weapons and long range weapons.

RotMG. HILDA is a character who can transform into a giant magical cannon.

And a bunch of other things, but she's basically Megatron if Megatron used Conservation of Mass/Badass.
