I have the world set up. I'm going to play the fortress tonight, finish it either today or tomorrow afternoon, and upload the fortress / make a post tomorrow evening.

We have finally arrived! It was a long journey, but an uneventful one. I bet all of those bandits saw my axe glinting and decided to try their luck with a different wagon! Over the journey, I got to know all of my fellow settlers, though I didn't really want to. I really need to check a calender.


He's kind of dull, honestly. I didn't really talk with him.


This guy is a jerk. I mean, I don't really like traders, just to start with. They profit off of others' work. But he wants to create a work of art? Seriously? I thought he was a trader! He needs to make up his mind. And - get this - he doesn't care about craftsdwarfship. At all. I hope he leaves with the fall traders.


He eats too much. We probably would've had another day's supplies if he hadn't acted like a hungry wolf on the journey here.


She didn't want to talk to me much, for some reason. I don't really care, though; she's almost as dull as Urist.


He doesn't see the point of mastering a skill! Unforgivable. I didn't talk to him once after I found out.


She doesn't have a dream. What kind of dwarf doesn't have a dream? A boring one.

I have about half of the next journal entry typed up, as well. I didn't hit a good stopping point for it, so I didn't post it.

20th of Felsite
First, I ordered for some trees to be chopped down, some plants to be gathered, and a short tunnel to be dug. I then created the first military squad, the Earthern Directions. It's led by me, of course. I'm also currently the only member, since nobody else has any military skills.

After a downward staircase was mined out, we struck hematite! Wow!

6th of Hematite
Things are still going well. The miners dug rooms for most of the workshops. Soon, the workshops will be built, and then the carpenter and mason can get to work building furniture.

10th of Hematite
It turned out that we forgot to actually bring a carpenter. I don't know how that happened. I told the trader to act as a substitute, since he's not really doing anything.

18th of Hematite
I had some bedrooms dug out. I got the biggest, of course; it's only fair, since I'm doing the most work. I mean, I'm the overseer and the militia captain. True, I haven't needed to fight anything yet, but still.

20th of Hematite
Would you believe it? That trader just sent me a complaint! He says that I shouldn't have gotten the biggest room! That's just rude. I sentenced him to 40 hours of furniture-making - I need more statues.

28th of Malachite
He's back again! He claims that having one of the new arrivals engrave my room was "a waste of time, especially at this stage of development." How dare he! This fortress is doing just fine. Sure, we don't have proper stockpiles yet, but we'll probably be able to get those set up before the traders arrive!

30th of Malachite
The trader was bugging me to set up a trade depot, so I did.

The trader just told me he'd reported me to the Mountainhomes! That's absurd. I'm just exercising my creative rights.

A caravan has been sighted! We should be able to do some trading, now.

What! The outpost liason told me that I've been fired! That's absurd!

Well, I don't know who the new Overseer is, but good luck to them. This place is a terrible location for a fortress. Seriously, just look.



I think I did a decent job of adapting to the terrain, though.

I guess I'll just be the militia captain, then. Bah.
