Yeah, it's definitely a tree-related thing. I've noticed that in my personal fort, whilst harvesting Nethercap one level above the Magma Sea, magma will start gushing up in seemingly random places. Whilst viewing my woodcutters fell one of the last trees I needed, after she grabbed the log that remained, two seconds later magma started welling up from pressure through a hole in the floor, which is where I assumed the Nethercap's roots were.

Magma and trees mixing?

Almost as bad as the Dwarf-Elf relationship in the Hobbit...

No... That makes a weird sort of sense.  Nether-wood is always chilly, netherwood barrels will always keep your brews frosty and cool, but none of us has thought about WHY netherwood would need to maintain a perpetual magical chill.  Imagine this: Netherwood is one of a vanishingly small class of organisms that survive intimate contact with magma.  Unlike the more mobile variants like magma crabs and the like, they've taken an entirely different path by becoming perpetually cold instead.  So, Netherwood is like a sponge, getting its energy battery-like from the temperature differential between its super-heated roots and its perpetually chilly above-magma stamen... That's really kind of genius if you think about it: It's a thermoregulation plant set up specifically to keep magma from melting through the floor of the caverns...  I bet it's one of the more important mutualistic nodes that make the cavern biosphere actually even possible, just like those volcanic vent worms on the ocean floor feeding all sorts of other life by filtering the superheated water for heavy elements...

Wow.

Sorry for the slight delay. Here's the file.

Unfortunately, college intervened to keep me from doing much of anything else besides starting the reclaim and poking around. So my legacy is a half-completed maze, a fort with seven bearded corpses in it, and both accessible solely from a hole that was not supposed to be there in the first place. And it's all in necromancer lands.

Not how I intended things to go, but it sure was fun :P

Did I mention that I'd like to sign up for another turn? Because I do. The Maze of Bootlungs must be completed...

Actually, it seems that 40.14 is going to be released soon ((this weekend)). May I begin my time then?

All in favor of temporary postponement of the game until .14 is released?

I am in favor of this.
Can't wait to see the new emotional states.

This will be 1.4 in a shellnut:

"Urist McUrist is contemplating suicide because he witnessed someone eating his favourite food. He is curious about the masterfully added goat bone to goat bone scepter.
He is saddened by the lack of excited dwarves nearby."

Welp, I'm happy to be so far down on the list, because I just barely started paying attention to the forums again. Excited for my turn (when it comes)!

By their names, I gather that our heroes have an unhealthy fascination with death. It seems like a great tradition to carry on.
