"Empty you say? We'll see about that!"

Conjure Mist around his eyes and trip him up with my staff.
[6]
You blast his eyes and he gets momentarily blinded
You hit around the back of his knee and knock him over, freezing the middle of his leg solid. He falls down hitting his head on the counter cracking his skull and falls onto his own knife stabbing through his back into one of his lungs and possibly other organs
He is unconcious and bleeding out

Start dragging along Desmond with me since he seems to have gone into some kind of temporary coma.

Drag my staff across his body to freeze near everything, then look around for a piece of paper and a writing instrument.
[5]
You swipe the staff along his body freezing his midsection, chest, and head
You find a piece or wax butcher paper and a chunk of coal for writing

Start dragging along Desmond with me since he seems to have gone into some kind of temporary coma.

You grab Desmond by the arm and drag him outside
A man in a red and white checkered suit walks up to you as you close the door with Desmond standing slack jawed drewling next to you
"Hello fine sir, how are you today?"

"Yes I do, there are several people in these river empires that experience episodes of slack jawed silence for periods of days to hours and no one knows why. Though I suggest giving him a nice dose of Dr. Ciders topical cream. Just buy a jar and apply liberally (pm him)"

Write the following: "To the criminal underworld, I, The Crimson Phantom, have killed this butcher for not arranging a meeting between the two of us, so please, try to contact me before I kill any more of your moneymakers." Then ram my staff through the butcher's skull.

[3]
You write the note leaving it on the butchers frozen chest
You bash his skull but the brain freezes around the end of the staff leaving a pink/white/red/hairy ice block on the end of your staff

You exit the town gates with your friend who is trying to work out payment for Dr. Cider
As the gate open a small caravan of argonian fish traders enters. The trainers are in rough condition but they seem to have most of their supplies not stolen
[2]
Your action is stopped by Dr. Cider being an annoying salesman and the caravan outside the gates

One of the argonian children runs up to you and your friend,"Sir can you please help me?!? My mom was taken during the raid and da died in another a few months ago. I don't know what to do without them"

"He's totally a victim of banditry...don't worry kid, Desmond Foxfire is on the job!" The hero responded, heroically.

...

He walked over to the traders.

"Well, seems all of you need a hero. I'm your man! I work cheap, say, a Ragnar a day...in advance...ale and food provided...funeral costs to be defrayed by you in the event of my death...hazard pay if you want me to kill real monsters. Bandits, no additional cost! I also provide heroic tales to enliven parties, taxidermy for those special kills you want to cherish, and retrieval of lost and cursed artifacts or people from tombs, dungeons and caves. I can dance, juggle and sing!

Just tell me where I can find these bandits, right? Which direction did they go?"

An older argonian climbs off the wagon at the front of the short caravan. He approaches you and in an old raspy voice,"If you find that child's mother we will hire you. As for advanced payment *flips a Ragnar and it lands heads up, he hands you two Ragnar coins* please bring our scale sister back"

Desmond made the money vanish, giving one coin to his friend.

"I'm on it. And this guy too! He's my sidekick-Genvalur the Hard Hitting Mobile Warrior. We're brothers. Different mothers. Working together for years.

Still, any clues on the bandits at all? Where did they attack you? What direction did they run?"

A younger argonian walks forward, he seems to barely be of mature age for his race. "The bandits were from the southern forests of the tribe lands, they have been know To hit the caravan trail between the great river and this town. They generally run off into the hills south of our fishing post after raids but they have become more violent with their attacks. I fear magic and evil be about. They shouldn't be farther than the mountain 'Hill Shock'"

Scrape the mess off my staff with one of the butcher's knives, then see if the Kajhiit is still alive.
[4]
The knife is enough to scrape off the majority of the frozen chunk on the end of the staff
The kahjiit is beginning to get up, he rubs the side of his head that got hit,"Wh-where am I?"
