Try to intuit what those glowing things might be, and if they're useful.

Listen to intuition and look back to what we encountered; ponder upon and tell others about findings.

So it was like a binary search, except the question is "Has the input been brutally murdered?", and it only ever returns True.

"Fuck it, we need to move people, we barely contained it last night, we won't get so lucky again! Haul ass you crazy sons of bitches!"

The Crazy Train does not make stops. Drag the eater as close to the center of the crater as possible, even if no-one else helps me. Use my mass amp to shove the eater along with me if I need to, though be careful not to shove it too fast, or to smash the goo coating.

"Alright.  It's your funeral."

Order mummies to continue to push the Eater.  This can only go well.

Onward!
One vote for onward.

Continue onward and observe the temperature gradient once more. How quick is it in comparison to the one we encountered digging downward?
It seems faster, as though you're not just getting away from a strangely cold section; you're moving into something hot as well.

Is my character still euphoric? Is that feeling getting stronger or weaker?
It's starting to fade, but it feels like it's fading regardless of where you are. Must have lost your fedora somewhere.

Try to intuit what those glowing things might be, and if they're useful.
Uhh....emm...maybe they're treasures? Maybe you just drank a spelunker's potion? That would be neat.

Listen to intuition and look back to what we encountered; ponder upon and tell others about findings.
Errr...em...Well it seems like the big flamey thing is coming for the eater and you are pretty sure them hooking up would be bad.

Continue onward to the exploring of tunnels.
You continue forward, up the slanted tunnel, until you poke your head out into a large chamber. This chamber is....odd. Imagine, if you will, a cave filled with fireflies. Imagine, however, that each fire fly is literally a beach ball sized orb of flame, like a tiny sun, which is drifting slowly around the room on a corona of light and heat haze, communing with the other fireflies via streams of white hot plasma. Imagine the entire cave chamber is basically on fire.

Thats what you see.

A third!

A fourth!

Fifth!

Sixth!

Seventh!

Ok, so you get the thing maybe another mile or two before the sun sets and you lose sight of the thing you're pushing towards. The fireball in the sky is dimly illuminating the world around you and it is now spiraling in significantly faster. And the eater appears to be stirring slightly, far earlier then normal.

"In the underworld we have a saying: 'we're all fucked.'  We think it applies here."

Command undead subjects to begin piling and compacting sand on the Eater's shell.  That should start us off, at least.

"Let's not trouble the great balls of fire, Dubs, agreed?"

What shape is the chamber? Are there more exits than the one we came in through? Are there any interesting features of it that I can detect? Move along the outer rim of the chamber carefully, but not too far, to get a more complete look. Do the orbs seem to care about us in any way? If they visibly respond to me taking a step into the chamber, withdraw back into the tunnel.

"Fire, so pretty! And dangerous. Agreed, lets leave them alone."

If the mk3 can withstand the heat, and the fire orbs don't seem hostile, then Carefully explore the cave.
