I can honestly say that whenever I try to make a modpack, this one is missing. I have no idea what it does or what mods it's for, except that it's always required.
I just include it by default now.

As for Thaumcraft, there's a config option to set research to Easy mode. You still need to do the whole "look at stuff" thing, but it skips the annoying minigame. I'm afraid I don't know any other cheaty ways of getting around it. I guess you could just spawn in a bunch of aura nodes if you're really desperate.

Ooohhhh, I didn't think to check the config file for Thaumcraft. Thanks for that! I will definitely do that, then. Does anyone have any tips on what I should try to research or make with Thaumcraft? I'm mostly interested in the alchemy side, but it's tough to slog my way through.

One of the problems I see with your Thaumcraft install is that you don't have any of the Addons for it. Most add some other way to get aspects for research, as well as quite a few interesting items otherwise.

As for IC2, I say go Thermal Expansion instead if you want machinery, it's a lot less clunky and impacting on the game world, and it pairs well with some other machine-mods like Minefactory Reloaded.

Edit: Thaumcraft Addons

I would recommend Thaumic Tinkerer, Advanced Thaumaturgy, and Thaumic Exploration.

Ah! I didn't realize there were any addons. I'll have to check those out. Thanks!

Have you considered the Chisel and Carpenter's Blocks mods? They definitely allow for more fine-tuning of creations.

1. You can't rename villagers with nametags, unfortunately. Right-clicking even with a nametag just opens the trade window. It appears to be impossible to name them after they've spawned. I should have named the eggs.
The villagers can be tagged, but you need someone to engage the trade window while you do it.

Ah. So not possible in single player?

Last night I spent a couple of hours starting to carve out a little getaway in the end stone cave. I scrapped several designs along the way and it took forever, and I'm really not happy with what I settled on, but it'll do for now. I've already got something in mind for starting the next episode, as well, though I need a plan for the rest of it.

I seem to have three volunteers so far for NPCs, so I'll put you guys in there for the next episode. You'll be mining to start. I think it might also be good to create a dwarf fortress underground. I can use my hammer to dig out tunnels, then start filling them with furniture. If I don't get any more requests, I'll assign you all duties as needed. One of you will definitely need to work in the tavern. And I need to cook and brew up some things to have available there as well.

I run a tavern on a SMP server I frequent, so I could see that working out. FireAndDice is my minecraft handle if you've forgotten it.

And if I do wind up changing around my skin a lot, yanno, running gag for free right there.

I'm still working on this, friends, just got sidetracked a little with work and dealing with the foreigner police (visa stuff). I hope I'll have something for you all this coming weekend! Two of you are in the game already, though I can't actually let you do anything or the game lags like crazy. So it'll probably have to be mostly RP, until I get a new computer.

There's a new video up, and it features two of my new friends! It turns out I can't let you really do much of anything (like mining) while I play or the game lags to hell, but so far just having you there, sometimes moving around a bit, is working just fine. I will add one or two more guests in each episode. Those who are participating, feel free to request something for your character. What do you want them to do? What do you want *me* to do? Feedback is welcome!

I will be including more original music, as well, once I can find the time to learn how to use this sequencing software to make chiptunes. Right now I've been just using my own voice for everything (yes, that's all me in the intro music), but that's pretty limited. Soon!

This episode made me hungry. Now I'm going to actually try cooking tonight instead of endlessly reheating the asada.

EDIT: That outburst right at the end, that was really funny.

HEY!

What do you mean humanism?

*Th4DwArfY1 is affronted*

:P

But yes.
My hole must be made into a grand fortress.

Sorry, is that politically incorrect? What's the proper term for the condition where you are as tall as a human and don't have a beard? : )

A fortress there will be, eventually. Feel free to submit a rough plan for how you'd like it laid out -- keeping it within reason, of course. Alternatively, send me a ridiculous map, which I will negotiate down from during the video.
