Processing trees into charcoal and refining that into something usable for metal smithing would take a long time without advanced tech or magic and I'm not sure how that works. GM can you provide some worldbuilding on the matter.

No we aren't. We are a tiny fragment of a semi-godlike being tied to the life of a mortal stone giant.
