Again, I've never met one who actually thinks like that. Best I've gotten close to is Yahoo! and YouTube comments, and with Poe around and the fact that they're... Yahoo! and YouTube comments... Well, yeah.
As I said - that Oatmeal comic illustrates the mindset pretty well.
(Sorry for bringing this up again...)
That Oatmeal comic doesn't claim there are no gods. It doesn't even make a case against Christianity... It says being religious is fine, if you aren't pushy about it. It highlights many uncomfortable practices common among people of all religions, exaggerating for comedic effect.
Does your personal interpretation of Christianity not:
Encourage you to judge people
Require putting faith before science
Come from a parent
Encourage conversion
Claim amazing miracles which unfortunately left no evidence and stopped happening, like most other religions
Demand that you fight for God
The strip is rude because it's caricaturing these behaviors for comedic effect and impact. That's how comic strips work, particularly this guy's.
The kicker is that the Bible pretty explicitly demands all the ones I listed, except maybe the last one (thanks to Jesus). Christians who don't do all this crazy stuff are following a personal spirituality instead of the Bible, which is *great* for all involved.
Well moving on to a different topic
Asking the Christians here, what means do you think god will end the world?
I kinda like the idea of a gamma ray burst. Would cause a pretty hellish environment on earth until everything died off
Interesting topic! Question: When do you think it's most likely god will end the world?
Like OW said, we will never know exactly when.
Though there are a few warning signs for when it will start and a few have happened IIRC
Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. Matthew16:28
But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God. Luke 9:27
Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power. Mark 9:1
Clearly Lazarus was present at all these speeches. We can induce the rapture by forcing him to eat meat. We won't succeed... It'll be kinda like checkmate.
