Song of Solomon is great because it's shameless erotic poetry.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

The Gospel of Thomas, despite being noncanonical. I mean just look at this stuff

Quote
3. Jesus said, "If your leaders say to you, 'Look, the (Father's) kingdom is in the sky,' then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, 'It is in the sea,' then the fish will precede you. Rather, the (Father's) kingdom is within you and it is outside you.

When you know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will understand that you are children of the living Father. But if you do not know yourselves, then you live in poverty, and you are the poverty."

My favorite book from the Old Testament is probably that of Judges, with Ecclesiastes coming in second. My favorite in the New Testament is The Revelation of John.

The only thing out of the bible I can remember word-for-word is... I think it's in revelations? And only because of Fallout 3

I am the Alpha and the Omega
The beginning and the end
I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life
freely

Or... something to that effect. I've not seen the thing for ages.
That's Revelation 21:6, I believe.

It's actually one of the reasons I listened to the Mormons in the first place, they ask for donations, but they make sure to never do so publicly, they deal with it behind closed doors.
At least the church I went to did, can't vouche for the rest.
I just can't get over the whole "women are second rate and can only be saved through marriage to a man" thing that Mormonism has got going.

To be fair, Mormons don't really believe in the Bible. They have the Book of Mormon or whatever it's called.

The Bible does have some verses about the whole men vs. women thing, but it mostly says that women must not hold office in church and that the husband is the head of the household. There's also a little bit about dress codes in Timothy IIRC, but most people I know think that was more a cultural thing, but the expectation is to dress nicely.

It's not that you can't be saved, just that you cannot reach the highest degree of glory in the Celestial kingdom(The top bit of the "Sun Realm"). Also, it is everyone who needs to be married to enter, not just women.

The Book of Mormon is more of "The Bible, part three" then a separate book. Mormons still believe in the bible. It is just that we have another book to go with it.

Do Mormons try to marry off their children really quickly, then? Just in case they die in a crash on the way to school or something?

Oh, okay. I didn't realise that.

Well, remember the whole Spirit prison/paradise thing? You could get married there I'm pretty sure. It's kind of a second chance place, in case you didn't get a chance to do something on Earth.

Also, you can still get into the Celestial kingdom without being married, just not the very best part of it.

Interesting. Now I can say I have non-zero knowledge of Mormonism.

Needing to be married to enter the very best part of it sounds really BS.
