CAN WE NOT JUST GET ALONG.

We do
I have nothing against homosexuals or anyone else (ok maybe Isis but that's for public decapitations and a horrible educational system) beside the point

This is not a Christians hate everyone thread
It's a question and discussion thread

Oddly, searching "Christians hate everyone" brings up many results along the lines of people complaining about Christians hating everyone.

It's like we're Nazis or something :P.

I'm going to firmly plant my opinion that everyone is entitled to an opinion

Also on another note
Why are Christians always judged by people for not being high and mighty, what just because I have faith I'm supposed to act like Jesus? I'm human too!

Completely unrelated, Cryxis, your personal text makes me think of the end song of Journey (Because one of the translated lines is 'To each his day is given')

Can you explain what the disagreement was?

There wasn't any. It was just a (remarkably calm) derail into a discussion about homosexuality/transexuality that happened to be primarily based around Christian beliefs.

Surprisingly, it'd probably be hard to get along if we agree on everything we hear, assuming our brains didn't explode from the sheer amount of doublethinking already.

My current understanding on christian beliefs and homosexuality, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong:

-There is material in the old testament that says homosexuality is wrong (or at least male homosexuality)
-This is often considered outdated and ignored, in much the same way that the rules about wearing fabric of mixed material is ignored
-There are Christians who are against homosexuality and cite religion as their reason, but these people are are a loud minority

If there was one it would be this
How exactly do you as a Christian weigh in on homosexuality and if you are not a Christian how do you feel about Christian opinions on homosexuals

I will say that my opinion is that it is a sin but I do not look down upon them for it because i sin just as much as anyone else

A new testiment verse (because old testement verses were deemed not useable earlier on the other thread)

Romans 1:27

And the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

You might be entitled to your opinion, but responding to a sad person with "I don't approve of you" (for whatever reason) is a little tactless.

I don't know the context of the argument, but from the title I think I can contribute, at least as far as the Catholic Church is concerned. I don't know what others say about it.

Essentially, (and by my understanding, someone else more knowledgeable may correct me,) the Church considers homosexuality sinful simply because it's outside of marriage. A marriage is defined here as a man and a woman who are in union through holy matrimony. I'm not sure if civil unions are considered a marriage by the church, but my guess would be no. Anyway, as two people of the same sex cannot be married by the definition above, any homosexual act is extramarital (or premarital) by definition, and therefore a sin.

Of course, just because someone has committed a sin doesn't mean they don't deserve respect.
