Funny how the people who try to do it right are nutjobs.

Well... it's hard not to, considering what they're basing themselves off of was written (by something like over a dozen authors, over several decades, pretty much all of it second hand, at best, and since translated several times over) a couple thousand years ago for a pre-industrial society. Of course you're going to come off as crazy if you're trying to replicate the cultural and ethical mores of a social group a millennium+ dead.

Did Jesus not say "Hey dude, don't be an asshole and judge people. If you really think Dad won't like what they're doing, he'll hash it out with them later, just f--- off".
(I may have paraphrased).

Streaker J said a lot of things, T. Would have been nice if there was just one straight-forward message in all of it, but while stuff like that was emphasized, it wasn't it. Buncha' other stuff, some in line, some not, some disconnected entirely.

Also, the response nowadays seems to be "We're not judging them, we're judging their actions. It's totally different!" Except the whole part where it functionally isn't, o'course, but haters gonna' hate.

I just need to throw this in on the self defence stuff

I'm pretty sure God wants you to turn the other cheek, unless lives are being threatened

I mean ya ok if the mugger looks kinda scared and really needs the money ya give it to them but if he's got a gun, isn't shaking and is going to kill you either wich way, I think you have the a-ok to protect your life without killing him. I mean IMO God is all for the preservation of all human life

Can you give any quotations on that?
What it looks like here is you're trying to justify your own values as being Christian ones.

I will when I'm not tired. Had to march in a parade today and I feel like crap now and don't have the will power to do anything.

I'm sure I can find some stuff on it, but it's mostly my interpretation of "Thou shalt not murder"
Ya know, preserve human life as much as possible. Including your own, don't just let someone kill you. Prevent sin type thing

Yeah, I... don't think there's terribly much biblical evidence for YWHW caring much about the preservation of all human life. Or even a majority of it. Israeli Jews, maybe (or, at least, some of them -- chosen people, etc., etc.), but...

And yeah, thou shalt not murder just pretty much doesn't, at all, mean preserve human life as much as possible. It means thou shalt not murder -- specifically, the line intended one to refrain from unlawful killing of a particular sort, and has nothing in particular to do with suicide, in and of itself. Or anything more broad than, y'know, don't kill unlawfully.

As Grak says, reading more in to it is, well. Reading more in to it. Trying to justify non-biblical values as christian. Which I've noted previously is kinda' okay -- pretty much everyone does it, and it's pretty necessary to get anything workable and non-batshit out of biblical texts. Most every christian is some variation of heretic or blasphemer, and that's a-okay.

Just read the Liberal of Conservative Manifesto and treat it with the same absolute compulsion.

"Thou shalt not murder"
I'm pretty sure self murder counts here, suicide is just as bad as walking up to someone you bully all the time and shoot him in the face cause you don't think he needs to live anymore

The original text used different words, so... no, not really, suicide and murder are different things insofar as biblical consideration goes. Mind you, there is other condemnations of suicide if you're after it, but it's not the commandment.

This is pretty much accurate. Though to be fair, "unlawful killing" covers pretty much everything outside of war and judicial executions.
