I say no to anything like a musket. they are pretty outdated if I understand correctly, so we should go for something like a lever-operated(or at least a breachloading) rifle like the Winchester rifle

while we are at it, invent rimfire cartridges. This should be what our standard mag fires

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

Feel free to adjust it. I just threw in the gun to keep the army chief happy.

Alright, here's a better gun:

Lever-operated rifle DX-1B. It fires a new .30 rimfire cartridge from a 15 round replaceable, reusable box magazine. The simple lever operation to eject the cartridge and advance another round should be within our manufacturing capabilities, and if our enemies are still anywhere near musket/muzzle loading rifles, this should be a real leg up on them since we can sustain a pretty good rate of fire with such a gun.

compressed steam is a very poor way to propel bullets
Yes it is, the idea is that the steam engine drives an air pump that can be used for something like a a Girardoni Air Rifle.

We should work on a Revolver style breech for our light cannons.

Weren't we building a machine gun?

If we still are this is what i propse:

Tri-pedal to be able to stabilize itself and provide more accurate shots. Ammou will be injected on the top by a Second man called a loader than fired by the First man. Loading is as simple as loading a Browning (link:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1919_Browning_machine_gun). The gun is to have multiple holes on the muzzle to let hot air out so that the gun doesn't overheat itself. It'll fire incendiary munitions and armor piercing munitions against troops.

It'll be called the "Furies Vengeance".

Not sure on how to make a cartdige though.

6 months to work on a basic plan for the machine gun and the cartridge. we'll work with both teams back and forth. Then we'll send a letter to the Navy cheif and the foreign relations minister for a "trip to bearland" where we will speak with our friend Igor and his father the colonel. The Minister will go and develop relations with Bearland about a possible alliance or non-aggresion pact. He'll also see if we can work out a possible trade deal for some raw materials. I'm sure our economics minister will be happy  ;).

We should also hold a meeting when we get back with our cabinet to talk about the warlords and how the interior minister wants us to clamp down on them. Subterfuge?

Spending half a year on a machine gun is excessive however. Besides, we already have cartridges, don't need to develop more of them separately. Just develop them as part of the gun/.

Maybe, also we should talk to the Ether Cheif and Army cheif about making a "Meta-Knight" or something. Basically have our sword in the hands of power armor using dudes that fly around. Think about guys just flying high into the sun and then diving into unsuspecting enemy artillery positions and hacking people to death before taking off again. Or heck have these guys be Metal Marines on our battleships and stuff. When the enemy gets close they'll fly off into the enemy ships and then hack there way to the bridge and kill the enemy leadership or drop super satchel bombs on the weak points of the ship. All this for later though.

EDIT
: So are we doing the thing under your spoiler? i'm fine if so i just want to be on the same page as you all.

Let's not build such a big Ironclad then.

The first thing we need is multi-purpose infrastructure. Ie, things that can be used both for war, and for peace. For this, I propose we draw upon our earlier design experiences.

Now, in order for us to defeat our enemies we need to be able to hit above our weight. Defeat their superior units, with our more numerous but vastly inferior ones. This means that in first place (We're an island nation, right. Kind of steampunk Japan, if I get it correctly.) we need a way to defeat their navies, swiftly and decisively, and preferably from long range. (Because sailing vessels can't take hits). Therefore, I propose this agenda.

Torpedo : Used to blow up enemy ships with our smaller ships.
Airship : Multipurpose infrastructure : Cargo transport, Naval Spotting, Bombing operations
Steel : Multipurpose infrastructure
Start of Gun construction : Got to keep the army chief happy, and boost internal stability
Visit to Bearland (3 months) : Go visit Igor, obviously.

+1 to above i guess since my plans kinda suck.

Also i like how this one gave us options on what to be good at and where to study. I feel it's a trademark of winning SG's on this forum.

EDIT: Something we should attempt to make as Junior minister.

Steam powered mech suits! yes that is so on the list but we need a while to develop the tech.

When #umbrellarevolution happens practically at your doorstep can you just sit here and pretend to be happy enough for a forum game?

will try to squeeze some time but don't expect fireworks (except cluster tear gas grenades).
