Gritting your teeth you spur the practice model into action, letting the Hyperion Model F fall from your hands as you boost forward. You barely manage to dodge most of the intense fire of the two <Barracudas> only to have your last operable leg taken out of action by the unmanned machines. Grasping the pistol you bring it to bear, and squeeze the trigger sending four bullets tearing into the <Barracuda> on your right which cause it to power down almost immediately. Continuing the attack without pause you fire on the other <Barracuda> just as it fires on you once more, blasting your thrusters to the side you manage to avoid the shots but knock your own off course enough to require a second burst of pistol fire to put the <Barracuda> out of action for good.
Victory is close at hand, just one more <Barracuda> and you will pass the first training session with flying colors, with that in mind you turned your focus to hunting down the <Barracuda> you had wounded. The search is short as the thing comes barreling up from beneath you at point-blank range, the unit fires from that short distance as you kick the boosters into full power in an attempt to evade the worst of the attack, but alarms start to blare through the cabin as the model's right arm stops moving, sensors on the right side of your vision go out, and the display begins to warn of simulated armor fractures that would auto-fail you in a short while.
Panicking you move the mech's only good arm with a speed far beyond human capabilities, and fire the entire clip into the machine point black, even if it is simulation ammo it still holds some punch and you watch the <Barracuda>'s armor warp and cave dangerously under the stress of the point blank shots. Almost immediately after you realize that two more targets had appeared just as you had fired coming from somewhere near the ocean floor, a few seconds later and you would have failed utterly ....
As the warning sirens die off, and the mech's main displays reset to show no physical damage had been dealt to the practice model you lean your head back all the way and sigh as relief sets in. Just as you'd finally relaxed Julius' laughter fills the cockpit,
"Quite a show you just put on, usually people have far more trouble adjusting to the sudden dual perspectives of both the cockpit and the sensor data of the machine they're piloting, but you managed to beat down four <Barracudas> in spite of that. It was close, and there was certainly no trace of elegance in the victory you've pulled off, but from the looks of it you're a natural ... and the <Concept Drive> showed no signs of rejection so no need to worry on that front. Ah, but more importantly there's one last segment to this training, its nothing difficult you simply need to choose a <Callsign> that you'll go by out in the field and during <Ignition> of the <Concept Drive>.
Choose wisely Hektor, there's no changing it once we've started to input the <Callsign> ..."
