This is true in basically literally every country in the world. City slickers feel like rural rednecks are backwards and stupid, rural rednecks are tired of arrogant city slickers overriding them.

But lordcooper is correct. Democracy is not about land, it's about people.

Now think about it from Thailand's perspective. There, the rurals make up a majority, but their democratically elected government has been overthrown by a city-supported military coup.
