I also think the case for staying forget about the risk of the incoming 2017 referendum. Leaving the EU would be much more of a blow that leaving the UK (assuming Scotland manage to re-enter the EU almost instantly upon independence).

Alternatively, they could simply not declare anything legal tender and let Scots use whatever they wanted as currency, which would work just fine too with the benefit of preventing the Scottish economy from being hammered as hard by foreign currency devaluation. The only problem would be collecting taxes, which could be solved pretty easily if needed.

I'm going to assume that was just poorly worded, because it sounds like you're suggesting no single national currency. Which would be nutburgers.

The US actually had something like that briefly since each colony had their own banknote.

CNN said that too. Also, they said earlier (like a half hour ago) that things were too close to call, the margin between the two is smaller than the margin of error..

I figure they're releasing it tomorrow since they want to make sure that things are counted right. Really though, no idea why they're holding back.
