This is basically entirely the smallest councils on the list. Only Renfrewshire (No) and Dundee City (Yes) were above 100 thousand people. Catching up with No is not even an issue at this point.

It's not like the votes constitute a huge margin, it's that the votes finalized so far are about three times the number of people in every poll taken combined and are thus give us a lot of new information.

Edit: misread a decimal and thought it was a huge wave of results.

From the Guardian:
Quote
On the current turnout there are about 2.9m votes left. Yes needs 50.76% of the remainder to win or 1,516,122 in total.

Of course, that may be invalid already as the election results pour in as fast as people can post.

And we're back into it with Aberdeen, thanks to that 20k lead for Yes, according to BBC live radio feed.

Edit: Nevermind. Fuck you, Galloway. You're probably English in disguise, aren't you?!
Actually, they sort of are -- it's a border division. Which means a higher proportion of English living there (who are allowed to vote).

Margin has widened to roughly 90,000 votes now.  :(

Haven't seen anything on Aberdeen yet. Dumfries is a huge win for NO, though.

this is starting to look bad for yes. I mean, the big councils could easily turn this, and BBC is of course, slightly biased to talk up no victories, but still, 90k margin.

Honestly I think the results so far are almost entirely meaningless for predicting anything.  The big cities are supposed to lean yes or neutral mostly and have way mroe sway than these places. Although highlands are big and probably strongly no. So whatever, who knows

So about 30% have been tallied now and it's a 10% lead for NO.  Sorry to all you romantics out there but it's not your night.

With Aberdeen going no, it's about time for YES to hang up its hat. The polls are showing a pretty clear favor for NO that I don't think YES is going to be able to turn around in the larger councils. Once a 200k+ council goes in I will make my prediction.
