Cooking?

What so good about turning food into just a different quality of food.

1 Plump helmet goes into 3 Dwarven Wine.

3 Dwarven wine can be cooked into like Dwarven Wine Roast (LOL). Whats even the point of this?

I've had a fortress that went on for 6 years and we just had Plump helmets and wine; nothing fancy.

Other than trade value I dont see the purpose. All my dwarves are ecstatic anyways from being in the legendary dining hall so quality food might make them more happy but cant get more happy than ecstatic.

And my trade commidities are usually master work weapons which 1-2 buys out an entire human caravan.

Hauling tasks. It all boils down to eliminating hauling tasks and keeping your dwarves busy once their guildmasters arrive.

Keep Plump Helmets around, and eventually some poor dwarf is gonna drag one from the stockpile and eat it raw. This could generate a hauling task for the seed.

I believe cooking with alcohol was originally intended to be more of a "flavoring" or "spice" type thing, and the fact that it makes a lot of food right now might change in future releases.

Once the economy starts, Dwarven Wine Roasts etc become really expensive, so it's always good to have cheaper sources of food for the dwarves.

So some of my poorer dwarves might starve becuase they cant eat the roasts???!! thats terrible.

I just found out that cooking kill seeds so what I was planning to do was make wine the main dish. Wine for drinks/seeds and then cook excess wine for meals D:.

if theyre broke, they will still pick something to eat.  it might just mean that they get evicted from their rooms and have to sleep in the barracks because theyre broke.

Lazy-ass dwarves expecting the rest of the fortress to carry their weight for them!  Get a job, you bums!  What is this, Soviet Elfistan?

In Soviet Elfistan, vermin hunts you!
