With or without high savagery, I've normally had little trouble with starvation, even if a siege that I wasn't prepared for locks me in the fort for a whole year or more. But I will keep it in mind, and when the time comes, we'll see how the "optimal start location" compares to what people actually want.
I'm also going to rename the thread once we get the ball rolling. How does "Carnagecrafts: the Story of the Nameless Nomads" sound?

I'll see what I can do about the name.

It's proper Dwarfish. And I like 'Nameless Nomads'. Even if we aren't nameless, or particularly nomadic. ;)

Haha, nice list of requirements there. :P  I shall take that as an excuse to be greedy.

As a counterpart to the volcano, how about having an infinite water source? (e.g. Ocean, river, aquifer ...).

This'll be my first succession fort, so I'll go with a simple guy, Tsiru (Urist backwards :3) Brisby, Butcher and Hammerdwarf.

Embark sounds pretty solid. An aquifer in one corner of the map sounds like a good idea.

Can't wait to play!

Alriiiight! Only one more slot left! Also, Brisby, would you like a turn? I'll be putting the current order on the OP soon.

Sure, I would love a turn!

All but a few of my fortresses end up looking weird, so it should be interesting.

Turn order has been added to the OP. Tonnot, if you want a turn, speak now.:P
On fortress-related news, does anyone want me to modify embark points at all or are we good staying with the default? I want to be as detailed as I possibly can, so if there are any world settings or specifications for the embark site that you want and are not present, please tell me.

I'd like to reserve a turn at playing overseer.
If you dwarf me, could I be a mason?

Alrighty, updating turn order and Dorf List!  I might be able to get it started sometime around Thursday, as that's when I'll have the most time to keep up with it.  Let's see how many more people we can get before then, eh?

I would love to be in the game.

Also, we need a lot of dogs and turkeys for war and food.

And whatever odd points we have left, we could spend on sand bags just for that extra usefulness.

Not sure if dying of old age is an honor or a shame for weaponmasters. On the one hand, it means they never got the opportunity to die in glorious battle. On the other hand, it means nothing could beat them in glorious battle.

One more question before we get started:
Should I start the fort early in the world's history or late?

Either is fine by me. As long as there are still healthy dwarf / elf / human civilizations left.
