as far as names go, go with something funny but memorable.

I have a large amount of past occurrences I could use:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Or alternatively, I could hit the "r" button tons of times until I get something good to work with. I also have many titles for said forts in mind as well, if you feel like making this whole thing really eccentric.

I've got my eyes on:

Safetyclasp
Strokedtrumpet
wethall
moistenedchannel

Seriously, though, how did you get those kinds of names??

But even more seriously, Carnagecrafts or Safetyclasp sound like ideal names.

Regarding those names, RNGsus has been a good friend of mine with them. As for Strokedtrumpet, I have a funny story about it. A friend of mine and I kept mashing "r" until we got a weird name, and proceeded to see who could come up with the weirdest title for it using the in-game word bank. My friend won with "Strokedtrumpet the Fleshy White Meat-Hammers of Children", whilst I had "the Angelic Guild of Temptation". But yes, Carnagecrafts does appear to be one of the better ones on the list. I'm also starting a list of more serious names should the need arise for them to be used.
On that note, do you think I should set up a poll for the names?

What if we named it safety clasp and made EVERYTHING dwarf-proof?

Carnagecrafts seems to have the most support right now, however, I want to know more details regarding the embark location and other such things. Though not too many people are in on this quite yet. You guys know of anyone who might be into it at all?  One more thing regarding the fort's name: do you want an extravagant title for it or do you want it to be plain?

I'm easy as to location.

I quite like lakes / waterfalls / gorges but I also like big huge mountains. Reclaimed world-gen forts are quick to start and sorta-easy, but breaking new land is good too. Actually, I just found a cool Goblin-ified reclaimed dwarven fortress with a bit of creek in a deep gorge. Only a small island world, though (65x65) most people will probably want a bigger world.

As to numbers of people ... threads here seem to get either mostly ignored or completely oversubscribed. I don't know if there are any tricks as to getting into the second category. :P

I volunteer as a tribute! Haha this could be my first succession participation.
It doesn't matter to me what the area looks like as long as it isn't something hardcore like Roomcarnage.

Carnagecrafts / safetyclasp sound nice.

If I get in on it I'd like to be dorfed too

Awesome! It's also my first succession game as well.  What jobs do you want as an honorary founder?

Woodcutter and or woodcrafter is fine

Added to the list. Now we just need the last three.

And if I'm not mistaken the current turn order is me, boes, ptb, and then you, correct?  Or does anyone want a different year? After a bit of discussion on this, I'll add the turn order as it pans out to the OP.

I like having the overseers be actual people in the fort, as many of the legends had. But if you really don't want to, I will not bother you about it.

Well, you could do me a male dwarf named Nob Totmon, preferably non-combatant and equally (in)ept at everything. I don't guarantee you'll get any RP from him while not my turn, though.

Or does anyone want a different year?

Are we talking one game year per turn then?

I'll see what I can do about the name. Added to "The List"

I'm thinking that we should have the embark be in a savage/joyous wilds area where we can stock up on plenty of meats.

Starvation is one of the least fun FUN things in dwarf fortress, at least to me.
