Grower also lack of Wasp Striker reaction: talons are here, strickers not.
Also, leatherwork cannot build torso armor, just the clothing one and for every other equip slot it works well.
It just lacks the Leather scale mail.

:edit:
It's also the time to change in the pet manual (https://sites.google.com/site/hivemanual2/pets) the Hive Thrall description:
Code: [Select]
Hive Thrall: A husk infested with
Price: N/A

the strikers thing was intended: organic matter in all forms is very light. a blunt organic weapon would act the same way an adamantine war hammer would. with that being said, i can easily make a new, heavier form of organic matter to build blunt weapons from. there's the new feature for the next edition. i wondered why i didn't do it before :)

the other two, fixed and fixed. i'll have a new release once i add the blunt organic weapons, which is quite easy (copy-pasting basically)

Yes please. Let's put the heavier bio weapons into the game! The waspen hammer would also be thankful! (I think this heavier one should only be for blunt weapons).

Also... organic bio armor? With splitting venom or things like that? And maybe we could also use some form of special whip-like weapon, like the yuuzhan vong amphistaff in the star wars universe, an alien race which uses only biotechnology.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
For your information, this organic weapon function like a whip, but it can harder itself to form a staff, or a spear (the tail is edged), and it can bite on its own and spit poison to the enemies.

Also, why the Laboratory let you make fire-spitting pets and soldiers? You know, it's good to make different evolutionary processes, but I don't see the fire option to be truly fitting the wasps. Something like poison, or splitted darts, or things like that, I see more fitting.
And they also don't make a problem for you waspen cement built fort!
And maybe other evolutions, like stronger wasps, or clawed ones (which could lose a pair of hands in change), stronger chitin, regenerative abilities, or even MORE ARMS for trully magnificent aberrations (or maybe wings! a man can dream).

wasps have wings. if they don't, Than402, give them wings. it was intended that they have wings but the wasps are too heavy to fly using them.

They don't have wings as body part showed in "v" look. Just thorax, abdomen, arms, legs and head.
But what I wanted to say is to make some mutant wasp to actually fly with those wings!

Ground pathfinding isn't flawless and sometimes causes the dwarves/humans/orcs/whatever to choose the weirdest path possible - i fear air pathfinding would be much, much worse...

there are quite a few limitations on weapons, i'm afraid.  :(

it was intended more like a gimmick. hard to use, but someone is bound to find a way to use it effectively.
you can make stronger, faster, tougher or whatever wasps, but it's not a buff. you make a wasp stronger, you have to choose if you want to make it frailer or slower. the same goes for making a wasp faster or tougher. and of course, you can coat their stings with metals. fear the adamantine, syndrome bearing stings!

the poisoned darts one should be relatively easy, but the only way i can see the other upgrades working properly would be as upgrades to praetorians rather than regular wasps.

sure. though i too thought they had wings...

Aside from these, I have finally started writing a proper guide. I wrote a (short) chapter on how to choose a good embark location and a second (considerably longer) one on picking skills, pets and equipment on embark.

Yes, I was thinking those just for soldiers, like nobreath, poison cloud and firebreath mods, that work only with soldiers.
After all workers have to work in the hive, soldiers have to fight enemies!

no, i mean giving the more extreme mutations to the praetorians and giving the needle mutation to soldiers. if i give the multi-armed and regeneration mutation to the soldiers then it will tangle with the sting coating, each other upgrade which changes the body, et cetera. and adding castes with unique body parts in a species with too many castes is just asking for trouble...

Oh, I've understood.
Yes, I like this idea, it could give more ways to use your pets (after all, why mutate a perfectly fine civ member, we have slave castes to abuse our awesome dangerous mutating arts).

yeah, currently you can take a human and turn him in a super fast, frail as wet paper living flamethrower :D

there's one use of the flame upgrade, by the way :)

so, any more suggestions for mutations?

Mmmh, different special attacks, more limbs, maybe wings for pets (if they cause difficulties for civ members, then maybe it could be better to give it to pets).
Leap attacks, aoe attacks. But I cannot think anything truly special for them.

Anyway, what I was thinking of about whips, are special attack linked to the weapon, like "bites" from the weapon. But it was just to make more lore stuff, it's not even that important.

update!!!

before i begin working on the mutation lab, i thought i would release a new update with all other stuff we discussed and with leather scale mails and winged wasps.

here it is

leap and aoe attacks can't be made because as of now DF has no sense of velocity, momentum, differences in scale or attacks that affect more than one square.

i was thinking about carapaces for humanoid slaves, claws, extra limbs, poison, that stuff. maybe wings too.
