I don't know how practical it is to ask Meph to do a lot of work when it was already the middle of the night on a holiday, so I wouldn't hold your breath for a fully integrated release.  Especially because he probably wants to review things and make sure it's up to whatever his quality/polish standards are for an official release (things like the weapons that don't appear on the military screen concern me a little bit, for example -- i don't know if that's been fixed or not, just an example.)  I think you would probably benefit from some time getting feedback with an "official" v1.0 standalone release.

But, I bet he create a world for Battle of the N Armies for you guys, if you ask.
An addition to the community fort I can most likely do. Same for the cover image, if you tell me what text should go on it. Should be in the same style as the others.

I can also link to the download of yours once I make the next update, and tell people that the Hive exists, that they can try it out, and should give you guys feedback.

I'd also appreciate if you could do a community fortress that is done like a tutorial. Most races in the mod have this, its much easier for people to both learn the mod and gain interest if they see the stories that can happen, screenshots and how you play.

that would be awesome. first we must make sure there are no loose ends or major bugs whatsoever, however

i have a new update. i've given them the archeologist building to try out the feature, made Shrine require both a megabeast soul and two great soul packs (10 souls each, made out of 2 soul packs each), made disposing of shrine summons more profitable and added a reaction to turn a megabeast soul to a soul pack.

next thing i'm gonna do is make a set of reactions to split great packs (in case you accidentally make more than you need), update the manual, remove all unnecessary reactions and write a proper guide to the waspen mechanisms.

Adding praetorians and aberrants to caves is easy, but I can't deal with the makeown problem.

You deal with the makeown problem by adding the PRAETORIAN_MAD instead of PRAETORIAN. the Makeown problem only happens when it tries to recruit wild PRAETORIAN. So simply make the feral Praetorian be the one that appears in the wild rather than the domestic one.

heydude, i have a question: i've read you tweaks on the makeown script and noticed that the new creatures you put were TRANSITION_WASP and PRAETORIAN_WASP. i've thought about something: wasps have access to praetorians as war animals. that means they might be available through caravans. if a caravan arrives carrying a praetorian in a cage is the script activated automatically? because you said it will activate if we make wild praetorians roam the caravans.

Not sure if this was discussed previously, but will they have deities. I'm thinking of something like a DPRK style deified queen or a spiritual embodiment of the hive rather than an actual, everwatching, entity with religions and all.

The closest thing they have to a religion are the huge monsters they will summon from the Shrine To The Depths (though they are not actual deities, just big, scary monsters)

Yeah but maybe Alexander wanted to talk about waspen civ deities, in which every member believe in or not, but eventually every wasp will have in her thoughts and preferences

So the question is: are the believes hardcoded into the game, or every civ can change their own?
Because
a DPRK style deified queen or a spiritual embodiment of the hive
are pretty awesome ideas.

i don't know. with dfhack it would most certainly be possible, but as far as i know, the only way to control what deities a civilization worships is through the spheres in the entity files or if you make them worship an undefined "force" like the elves. i'll search it, though.

here are the waspen spheres at the moment:

   [RELIGION_SPHERE:FAMILY]
   [RELIGION_SPHERE:DUTY]
   [RELIGION_SPHERE:WAR]
   [RELIGION_SPHERE:NATURE]
   [RELIGION_SPHERE:LOYALTY]
   [RELIGION_SPHERE:EARTH]
   [RELIGION_SPHERE:SACRIFICE]

wasps are associated with the violent side of nature so they have access to the war, earth and nature spheres, and they place a lot of emphasis on unity and the greater good of the hive, so they have access to the sacrifice, family, loyalty and duty spheres.

The elves believe in force?
We need lightsabers, now.

Anyway I like the idea of many different gods, but since they are so vague in the gameplay, the effort could not be worth the whole.

just mod them whips and scourges. the result will be pretty much the same.

the thing with religion is that gods don't do much at the moment. they curse some poor soul for stupid reasons every once in a while, in 40.xx they

Yes that's what i meant. Except the whole hive would believe the same thing because of lack of individuality and hive specific deities. I think it would add to the ambiance if wasps regarded sacrifice as an honour, Mayan style, and were regularly destroyed by the queen (with corpses disposed of or devoured depending on whether the queen wants their genes in the new eggs or not) or to feed larvae. This would have the practical aspect of limiting and feeding the population in times of famine and using good genetic traits (I think that was originally something to be done with enemies, tyranid style, but it might have been removed or just a misunderstanding). Of course that would only work if there is genetic mutation included, which would make sense for an insectoid, rapidly breeding, caste based race.

Wasps don't lack individuality in this mod though, and it's not THAT easy to replace lost numbers as it takes a while to grow new wasps and you can only get 16 new ones a year anyway. Regular sacrifices would thin these numbers too much imo. Besides, there's already a workshop that allows you to sacrifice wasps to get their brain essence and other things.
