Probably not gem cement but gem studded cement if it's possible. If we can't stud the cement like furniture we would probably have to make a reaction for every possible gem/cement combination. I still think it would be worth it.

actually, it might be easier than you think:

[REAGENT:A:BLOCK_OF_CEMENT_WITH_A_PROPER_REACTION_CLASS
[REAGENT:B:GEM_WHATEVER
[IMPROVEMENT:100:A:COVERED:GET_MATERIAL_FROM_REAGENT:B:NONE]

and add NOT_IMPROVED to the cement worker reactions. that way you can stud your paper cement stuff with gems at the gem setter and you can also stud your cement block with gems in order to create new, pimped out blocks for constructions without running the rist to accidentally use you diamond encrusted blocks to create a simple, unpimped bucket

what shall we do about clothing? not being able to make a poll sucks...

i intend to play for a while, search for any other bugs lying around, and then upload a new version.

You can leave out clothes completely, if you use Boltguns script that deletes bad thoughts from being naked. He uses that for the succubi if I'm not wrong.
This is what I was exactly thinking of. Wasps do have exoskeletons which are like a plate armor. I like the idea of them using decorations like necklaces or armbands and such, but I also like the idea of them being capable of running "naked" without problems.
Anyway and after all, we have paper cement as a custom building material, so it's ok to not use biological things, as paper cement is "biological" himself after all.

I am thinking what the clothsmaker could do, if we make them running naked. First of all, should we change its behavior? Being naked is ok, but being full equipped with cloths isn't better, for the mood?
It could be a luxury item, after all. And nobles could demand them too.

that's the thing: you can't receive positive thoughts from clothing. if we allow them nudity, then the only use clothing has will be as (fairly expensive) trade merchandize.

you can't store souls. the closest thing they have is making packs of them at the Chapel. these packs can either be traded for a reasonable prize or be used for summoning and stuff, but only warlocks can store individual souls. and yeah, you either get them after slaughtering something or by culling a wasp. note that for balancing reasons, aberrants and praetorians don't leave souls.

you get brain essence by culling a wasp, by waspen caravans (since wasps have access to essences) and after the next update larvae corpses will have a 10% chance of carrying one (i will add a special "corpse" tool and a reaction to process it). it's used to appoint new queens, to delay aging to your most important wasps, to enchant your weapons and to create the best organic weapons.

i must really write a Getting Started section. until then, just ask any questions you have here.

Ok cool, so I must stay allerted of my hunter if I want to use souls, or I have to just rely on my own slaughters for making them.
The same for brain essences.

I'm gonna try making a queen since I still don't one. And you said the first reaction is free, so let's try it.
By the way, do wasp queen has different stats, like the Overlord for warlocks, or it's just a noble position?

I've encountered a weird behavior with equipment.

This is what is happening with my enforcer: I wanted to create for him, since he's the best wrestler, a pair of organic talons. I've succesfully created the growing weapon, managed to wait a month and then butchered it, but now it sits in my butcher and military screen cannot see it, while manager and stock menu could list it.

Also, an update for the grower screen.

Now that I have souls it seems that I've unlocked the scythe, while I cannot make a 4 months axe or pick.
What are the reagents for each task? I thought they were the same for each quality step, but now I'm not sure.

To infect wasps, do I need to pasture slaves on the workshop, like warlock and kobold pet workshops?
And how to create red wasp hives?

Red wasps created, but there is a bad behavior here: no visible in animal Z page, while visible in Unit list and in Pen/Pasture animal list.
Also, I saw that in the craftsman's workshop (btw, we should change those names in craftswasp etc) you can make armor out of bone, aside from boots or similar feet equip. Why leave the feet alone?
And, finally, I don't know how to appoint a queen: I've just made the job done by an useless worker which I thought could become our new queen, but the job ended and nothing happened. :edit: Ok, I had to wait some little time.

Maybe replace "Grow an organic X" with "Grow bio X" ? Makes it easier to read ingame, with long texts being cut off and all.

I just lost hours of gameplay because light ran out. I play without autosaves since those corrupted a game of mine, and since I've never played with it.
I am so mad I could quit playing for a while. I lost my queen, I lost years of playing, I lost half my hive design. Even had luck with merchants, encountered a kobold trader, had a fight with an elven ambush. I had just coated my captain of the guards with a mithril sting, and after that I was gonna smelt all that shitty elven stuff into other mithril bars. To coat the rest of my initial-but-violent militia.

Anyway, a problem never changed for me: butchered organic weapons are unequippable.

Well, all I can really say is that I'm sorry for your loss. I'm not the guy who made the organic weapons so I can't really fix that bug and even if I was I don't have access to my computer (I'm typing this on an IPod)

At least it's nice to know that it lasted many years without crashing.

Quicksave is your friend, just like in any other game.

No crash indeed, the computer shut down because of the lights of my home wenting down. The mod has no guilt so afar.

Quicksave is your friend, just like in any other game.
I knew that other forms of save could lend corruptions upon my saved games... Also, how to quicksave? With the dfhack console?
I thought that only hermit could legally quicksave since it has the journal; I saw it as little cheating, I love the permadeath. I just hate when outside things ruin my game, since no RNG nor my inability of making thing led to that YOU LOSE feeling.

The night will help me understanding what I want to do. Maybe I'll start a warlock fortress (or maybe KOBOLDS FOR !FUN!, i love bolds) until some more patch of the hive is coming out (I'd hate to lose another fort for a save-incompatible patch).
