I did it! It's done. I have fixed the queen interaction.
Spoiler: here it is (click to show/hide)

It is also possible to make the queen say a speech before she fights her usurper. Does anyone want that? Does anyone have any ideas?

This would result in a loyality cascade eliminating the entire fort.

You cant use [CE_ADD_TAG:CRAZED:PROB:100:START:0:END:50], it has to be OPPOSED_TO_LIFE. And even then everyone would attack both queens, possibly killing, but at least injuring both.

Better to make it an instant-death, by transforming the creature into something that instantly dies. See the Hermit start, when all 7 hermits eliminate each other and leave only 1 survivor.

Loyalty cascades are intentional believe it or not. Wasn't my decision.

Also Meph I specifically designed this interaction so that only one of the queens gets the syndrome. this technically makes it a 1vE scenario. But still, I'm proud of my work.

Sort of a case of the queens claiming ownership of other workers and warriors and such I'm guessing, but I dunno if anyone would really like half the place being killed in a civil war that isn't in thier control.

Splint, about the civil war that isn't in their control comment you made. The only way for their to be 2 queens in a fort is if the player decided to do the specific chain of tasks required to create a queen, twice. Also there are plenty of warnings in the creature descriptions and in the manual not to create 2 queens (In-character of course). The events that lead up to the civil war were completely in the player's control.

There is actually a tiny (and I can't express the word tiny enough,) risk of a queen migrating in, as miniscule as it is, since the castes need to be able to be born normally to exist at all if I'm not mistaken.

Thats correct, a pop-ratio of 0 doesnt work, it must be 1. 0 resets to default.

It can still stay, if its intentional. Its a low enough chance, and could hit the fort just like a plaque or cult that I designed. The only difference is that I include a counter measure, while a loyality cascade has none. (except if the queen is killed by pets, that wont start a civil war)

What is it that makes only one of the queens get the syndrome?

or, let me ask another way ... the Remove tag can speak ending after 50 ticks is sufficient?

The queen is constantly reapplying the craziness syndrome so once one of the queens die. They near instantly regain their sanity.

Yes, as long as 2 queens exist, they apply it to each other, but after one dies, the other returns to normal after 50 ticks.

Ok I think we should begin discussing the counter measures for when the queen migrates to the fort. The queens will only turn crazy if they see each other (Walls block the syndrome) At the current moment we have a workshop that slaughters the person who activates the reaction (Cannibalism system) We could just leave it at that but I think it might be too easy/simple. We can make the queen immune to the autosyndrome syndrome that triggers the death. Possibly make her get the crazed status after nearly being executed.

Okay so I just told you how to prevent the queen from being executed by the cannibalism workshop. Now we need to prevent her from being used to create infinite meat.

Also ideas about how to actually deal with her without causing a loyalty cascade.

Alternatively we can just make it opposed to life instead of crazed preventing loyalty cascades from ever happening and just making it a simple duel. With odds against the crazy queen

So, forgive me for the random thing, but actual wasps can function for a short period after they get their head cut off, could you have a thing where, in the event of extreme brain injury, they enter a martial trance until they bleed out or something?

Also this looks awesome, keep up the good work.

They could get an affect like this, yes. I havent done anything like this before and it might be a bit complicated, but I think its possible. A second bodypart with thought tag, as a backup, and two self-targetted interactions, first one blocking the second but requires the head bodypart, if the head bodypart is gone, it cant be done anymore, no longer blocking the second one. The second one adds some extreme combat powers (you cant start a martial trance, but you can simulate it) and a self-kill syndrome that has a delay.

great job :) i'll add it when i fix our dysfunctional reactions

the syndrome a)doesn't work right now, it's on my to-fix list b)will work with creature classes. exempting the queen will be easy

how can she be used to create infinite meat?

and if you're so unlucky that you actually see a queen coming with a migrant wave, just hide your previous queen and arrange an accident for the new one. assign her to a squad, station her to a dead end and wall her off.

if the Queen (let's write the noble position like that to avoid confusion) comes, well "accident" for one of them! Queen or queen, nobody likes competition and in the Game Of Wasp you win or you die. the latter is far more common, this is dwarf fortress after all :D

worth a try. i'll also add this to some other pets, like the slugsnake and the worm.
