I just want to say on a Beast cave/tunnel, requiring souls seems a bit redundant. The Insects aren't being created per se (like say a Warlock skeleton, which needs a soul to power it,) more lured in by a big heaping bag of delicious meaty goodness wrapped in an edible (to them) bag judging by the description.

Ideas in that regard as well as others

thank you, Splint. those were some really good ideas, although deathweavers sound a bit overpowered (webimmune and web throwing close quarter units sound a bit too strong, that's the reason GCS and web throwing forgotten beasts are so feared, with the added advantage of reasonable numbers and weapons).

the reason the tunnel uses souls is because they are relatively hard to obtain in large quantities and the tunnel is actually something between a shrine and a tunnel. it will be named Shrine To The Depths, and some of the things you'll be able to summon won't even be insects. therefore, some things like Earth Elementals, enormous insects (which the wasps see as deities) and the Tarrasque (if you're really rich and powerful/a masochist who wants to risk drawing a feral and then having that thing running around your map) will require souls, and others like the praetoriants, the lobster and the aberrants won't.

Deathweavers are ones I'd just assume would require a very hefty soul-based price tag compared to Purelungs, Searskins, or Pyrestings and possibly need some quantity of stable warpstone or some other resource as well just to balance things out and make them harder to obtain, since I concede, they do have a greater utility over the others.
It just seemed fitting that an insect race would see value in warriors able to safely (for a certain definition of safe if they're fighting a monstrous critter like an FB or Doomweaver,) traverse web-laden environments.

Shrine/Tunnel: Ah, the only post I saw beforehand mentioned using souls in calling large and nasty things that logically wouldn't need souls. But bringing in certain large and nasty (as well as possible soul-eating,) abominations or forming elementals using them sounds like a neat idea.

adding webimmune is not an issue(in fact, it's a great idea, considering they already have means to web their traps). it's the spraying part that i think is a bit OP.granted, they already have web laying spiders, but they're really small, weak and generally ill suited for combat: one bolt and they're either dead or unconscious. but with a hefty enough cost maybe it can be balanced.

yeah, in the beginning i didn't even though souls as a reagent. insane proposed them, and i though it might balance the whose system. the souls are meant as sacrifices, not as bait. the wasps see the things they call as gods, after all (which makes it even more hilarious when a feral fire wyrm comes and burns the hive to dust. divine judgement made manifest!)

You can reactions that give them a "one-shot" webbing ability. Wasp does reaction, gets the ability, it can be used for one year, but has a waiting time of over one year. Results in the wasp using it first thing in combat, but cant use it again, till the interaction experires.

Hey guys I'm trying to write the interaction that makes the drone die after it fertilizes an egg and there seems to be something wrong with the syndrome,

i uploaded the new workshops, and fixed some bugs i found. now we must balance the many pets wasps have, and properly calculate the costs of the Shrine reactions.

I'm thinking a reaction called "pay homage to the god(ess) of beasts" should have an uncommon chance to spawn a random tamed animal, with a rare chance of it being spawned savage. uses meat and a soul

that's pretty much what i did. it requires souls, too. 35% of spawning an untameable, webimmune and trapavoid monster to wreck your base, 65% chance of spawning the same beast to wreck your enemies. you mean a generalized reaction that causes random stuff to happen?

All the stuff in the above posts AND the reaction

of spawning a random wild animal, you're just as likely to end up with a hawk or falcon or GCS or dragltha
