sadly it isn't, but if you want to continue all you have to do is go to the save file's raws, search for the entry of the larva drone (named MAGGOT_HIVEWASP_DRONE) and where it says [CASTE:FEMALE] change it to [CASTE:MALE]

Yeah, not compatible with old save.
But I had started a new fortress so everything went good (but I'm thinking of just changing caste on that save so I can continue that magnificent fort).

Yeah, I'll continue that.

Sure the wasps themself can deal quite a punch against anything in the start of the game, but in a lost fortress my militia (which was quite equipped) after winning without casualities from an elven ambush, was crushed to dust by those cruel dwarven.
I think the fact they lacked of true metal smelting was really disadvantaging. And since they don't have very good armor, the fact that now they can make use of metals doesn't sound like an overkill.

I have to see many of the features anyway, like poison, the weapons (how did you change the weapon sistem? I also have a growing weapon, I have to wait until it's grown? I can't remember how did I do the others in the last play).

Maybe wasps become too fast legendary in jobs. In like one year the miner is gonna become it, and after like two years my hunters became legendary archers.
That's maybe because dwarves have guilds that stop them becoming too fast in learning not-guild related jobs.

yes. once it's grown, slaughter it and a fleshwarper will clean it (it's an automatic reaction performed in the grower). the cleaning process also determines the quality of the weapon, so don't let anyone do it. i also raised the prices and made the prices for light weapons (such as daggers) and hand weapons equal, so no more mithril strong daggers from the embark :)

that also means that many more reactions require packs, so build a couple or more chapels to split the work.

so, i lower the learn rates in most skills , right? that's weird, though, no wasp has positive learn rates in a skill...

Just add SLOW_LEARNER to them, thats reduces it to exactly half.

can i add SLOW_LEARNER and then set a couple of skills to raise at normal speed? for example, fleshwarper is hard to train and determines the quality of the grown items. i'd like that to remain at normal speed, for instance.

Yes, make just the wasp-related jobs at 100% (like also beekeeping and such).
I know those are wasps, but they cannot dig faster than dorfes!

Anyway, now the bio weapons work as indeed, I've just succesfully made a bio lance!

Hey Insanegame, can you make the sprites an actual poll. so far only 4 people have voted so far and it seems like noone else is going to vote. Also I can't make a decision based on the votes I currently have because they are all unique  and varied this time unlike being unanimous the previous times.

poll for butcher is up

also keep in mind those rates you mentioned are normal for all races, within 6 months of any fortress i have 2 legendary miners. also keep in mind that many wasps are adapted to diging. also halving learn rates would make the game feel sluggish

good points. i'm still working on the mutations. that should give another usage for the slaves and it will make praetorians and aberrants even better (as it will allow you to improve them). sadly, there is only so much you can give a creature using syndromes (i would really like it if it allowed you to change a particular body part, for example) but hey, another feature never hurts!

So that's why they never try to bite unless they already have biter skill...
Also, I've never saw hive venom injected through bites, just from stings.
(also, don't forget pets... basically almost every wasp pet should have mandibles)

:edit: I KNOW!
A MUTATION THAT GIVES MANDIBLES AND (not-coatable) STINGS TO HUMANOID PETS!
And to thrall too! (btw what thralls do?)

in the next edition, thralls will be split into two categories: red wasp thralls (they fill your enemies with blisters and explode, fun for the whole family) and stinger thralls (they tear your enemies's shit up). red wasp thralls will be cheaper and weaker, stinger thralls shall be somewhat stronger and, more importantly, will be able to be upgraded in the mutation lab.

thralls already have stings, btw, they just don't inject poison.

Good, good, I like where are we going.

Anyway I want to know so I'll ask this again to just be sure: is there anymore venom in the wasp bites?
