Maybe changing the "god" summoning process to put megabeasts as reagent, with a slaughterhouse-like building.

the problem with that is that they're so large, you'll receive more than you paid. that's also the reason i made preaetorian and aberrant meat unusable (i'll make their hide unusable too) and don't drop souls

i can see your point about the ore processor. after all, wasps have other means of getting strong weapons. it's just that vanilla smelting has been terribly nerfed and unlike kobolds, they don't have access to thieves to compensate for their gap. then again, a proper waspen military is very strong even without metal.

No, I wanted to say: summoning them require megabeasts drops, instead of normal one. Don't change unusable gods drops (or maybe make the inedible meat a low-value building material like clay...
That just because I really can't see the god summoning process as something wasp-related: why did it was choosed for the very first time?

Wasps are indeed very powerful fighters: my relatively incapable militia of 5 nude wrestlers made the mithril armed elven run for their life, crying a river.

they are actually not gods, just worshiped as gods by the wasps. Summoning powerful insects was a planned feature of the race, and this is this feature's most powerful form. the elemental and the tarrasque were added to spice things up a bit. After all, admiring almighty abominations which can only be appeased with meat and souls and reside in the darkest corners of the world is perfectly in character for the wasps, at least in my opinion.

Just the simple fact that those are not gods but just very big beasts is enough for me.

the reason they are referred as gods in game is because the names of the reactions and the buildings are supposed to be written from the wasps' perspective

Hey Than, just asking but how strong are the 18 month organic weapons?

You can fake being able to run on water. You can't fake looking cool when you break your foot on a door and hit your head on the floor.

more testing, more bugs to be squished: i thought i made meat from summons unusable, but the game defies me still :(

also, i just had a 527 stack of meat turned into packs of meat all at once. is there a way to fix it or is it a bug that was fixed in 40.xx?

EDIT: apparently not. i figured a workaround for the summons' meat, though. i hate to repeat myself, but i need more opinions before i implement something we had not planned: should i also include an archeologist, a scale worker, a slaughterhouse and a chandler? it's the only thing let to wrap up this update

yes to chandler. People used to make candles out of beeswax all the time. I'm well aware that wasps use paper-cement and not wax but still, our "bee" people should know how to make candles (out of other materials of course, not paper cement).

I wouldn't say a separate workshop for processing scales, but I believe wasps should have the ability to process scales. What Meph currently did was add the scales shell and chitin working reaction to the leatherworker's workshop rather than creating a separate workshop for each.

I say no to slaughterhouse because we have plenty of summons already and because wasp's are too short-lived to make use of the potion of strength.  If we are going to use it anyway then the resurrect megabeast option should have a chance to be spawned feral like all of our other high-tier summons. Anyway I got a great idea. How about we make it so that a megabeast soul is required to construct the shine to the depths? This will prevent a player from rushing it.

I'm on the fence about the archeologist.

the thing is, meph's default reactions are for full sets only. that's why we made a separate workshop for chitin, because if we put it properly (that is, have the ability to either make full sets or separate pieces), you either need to make a workshop, or the tanner will get drowned with reactions. kobolds have the scale cleaner building, for example.

for the slaughterhouse, what i was thinking was not the options to resurruct megabeasts or for the potion of strength, but adding a set of reaction to dissect megabeasts for resources and a (new and generic, instead of specialized) megabeast soul (which should be used to construct the shrine, because it's a great idea). right now, megabeast corpses are unusable by the wasps.

as for the archeologist... well, it's not necessary, but even the kobolds have it and couldn't think of a reason why wasps should not have access to archeology...

Oh Than, you're just a bit confused with the leatherworker. As far as reactions are concerned chitin, scale, and shell are all considered leather. When you select "make leather boots" at the leatherworker, the worker will make it out of either, leather, scale, chitin or shell. If you want to control which material, just use stockpile linking.

then yes to the slaughterhouse.

huh? i thought that since tanned chitin/leather/shell had different reaction classes they would require different reactions. well, if so then you're right. they don't need another workshop.

Gameplay wise, I think it would be great if the hive had special reactions for products from hivekeeping like wax, honey, royal jelly, cochineal, silk, etc.

hmm, maybe that could be a use for the red wasp hives: "shear" them for wax, honey and royal jelly once per 6 months. the whole creature would need a rewrite, but it's most probably worth it.

i don't want to get involved with actual beekeeping, because it's kind of a mess and also situational

update!!! some bugs were fixed, made a few tweaks and added some stuff.

http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=9734

aside from any necessary tweaks/bug fixes the next ones shall also include waspen clothing (whatever is decided in the poll) and maybe archeology, though i'm still not 100% sure about that.

oh, i will also update the manual and... start writing the Getting Started section  :D
