EDIT: As for storing knowledge, I have a few Ideas.

1: Aforementioned ways
2: They have a small natural amount of skill in most skills
3: Consuming a waspen mind gives about 300xp in a random skill OR consuming a (insert skill name here) waspen mind (Produced by storing knowledge at the knowledge library) gives a certain amount of skill

Personally I thought the cannibalism was going to be used for feeding the fortress if there is ever a food shortage, you know since wasps can't farm. I thought it would be a reaction that killed the wasp who initiated and produced the wasps butchery products

trouble is the remains still need to be buried or memorialized because ghosts.civilization members can't be butchered and even if they are, the wasps will entomb them rather than cook them. after all, finding food in a cannibalistic civilization in dwarf fortress isn't that hard anyway.

well, engraving slabs prevents ghosts just fine, so it's not really an issue, as long as it's clear for the players.

Hey guys remember that reproduction rewrite we were talking about, well I ran into a problem.

There seems to be something wrong with the interaction that makes the eggs hatch into larvae

the game doesn't read the interaction for some reason. did you made a new file for the interaction? if so, did you put both OBJECT:INTERACTION and the file name in the first line?

okay I figured it out, what happened was that i named the file interations_eggs rather than interactions_eggs. while i wrote the internal file name correctly. Also I had to add castes to the larva because the transformation syndrome doesn't work on creatures that have no castes. It works now, eggs now hatch. How long should it take for the eggs to hatch?

let's say, 6 months.

EDIT: i found a solution on how to have legendary craftsmen in such a short lived race: by consuming two brain essences a year, a wasp can delay aging. that way, your best craftsmen won't die after 6 years of work, it is another use for the Waspen Mind with far less reactions than i expected, and it keeps in line with the whole "cull the weak, a few elite members are the only ones important" theme of the race.

how much is a year in clicks? i want to make the brain essences give the NO_AGING tag for one year

give the queen a special queen only creature class [CREATURE_CLASS:HIVEMIND_QUEEN] and then make it so that the syndrome only targets that creature class

when two queens see each other, they make each other crazed. so while you can have more than one queen, you'd better be careful not to have one near the other, or else loyalty cascade ensues. it was the best i could think to limit the number of queens.

and the problem with that is that it will also target the one who casts the interaction. i want the interaction only be activated when another queen is spotted.

strange that shouldn't happen. that should only happen when the [TARGET:SELF_ALLOWED] tag is active, are you sure the newly crazed (you really should make it opposed to life) queen doesn't just target the old queen as well.

You're going to have to make the crazyness syndrome also remove the tag [CAN_DO_INTERACTION:MAKE_QUEEN_CRAZY] from the other queen, and finally, it is not a good idea to make both queens with [CRAZED]. CRAZED animals of the same species team up against every other animal.

So you ended up achieving the exact opposite of the effect you wanted. You made them kill everything EXCEPT each other  :P
