Wait for them to come into sight then begin picking them off. Controlled bursts only to conserve ammo. Snipers targets brutes as priority.

They begin sprinting out of the woods screaming for help
Several rounds are fired before anyone notices that they are people
Several of them have been shot
There are about 30~40 of them

Team 1 stay in position, guard unit and I advance to form a rearguard behind the people and cover them as they run. Tell the scouts to get transports sent from town to take them in but keep them under guard.

They run past and several scouts gather them behind the trench for transport

There are 4 people laying on the ground in the tree line
At least 3 are moaning and groaning in pain

Squads Alpha through Delta advance to cover the treeline, squad Echo carry all 4 back. Team 1 provide covering fire if necessary. Guard unit fire volleys of fragile grenade if the enemy arrives in force.

The wounded are carried back and are out of way when force arrives
The trees are filled with them and several many are moving through the tree line
A volley of grenades is fried (were they frag, incendiary, or stun? I haven't heard of fragile grenades)

Have all of them taken to the HQ by the scouts, all squads dig in and open fire. Use incendiary volleys to set the forest on fire except directly in front of us.

Force them to attack us head on.

The frags explode in an amazing display of hot metal that shreds through their ranks and throw several of them out of the trees
Two small trees are even knocked down by the blasts
Flesh and blood rain back down upon them
The scouts begin hasty transport
Everyone back into the trenches and the guns begin ripping through their ranks
A valley of incendiaries is fired
Colored canisters fly into the woods and after passing the tree line a strewn of pink gas is realeased and as they smack into the ground and ranks of the horde about 10 meters in they spark instantly sending the trees and zed ablaze

You begin to hear gun fire and explosions from the other side of the town
A radio transition from the scouts "we've got it handled, keep em held up on the hill best you can"

Hold position, if the fire doesn't spread enough to bottleneck them into charging us then fire more.

Fewer are coming from the trees now and the horde is being torn apart by gun fire
There is a response on the radio,"Will co, got mortars on rooftops already, civs in HQ, and and ready to receive you at the walls"
(Mortars were available in the trucks of extra equipment, at least for everybody as a defensive placement on the buildings)

Plant claymores in the trench, fire a volley of stun grenades at the enemy to stop them for a few seconds then use the transports to evacuate to town.

Once everybody loads into the transports you hear the claymores go off and the transports leave

You begin to lose consciousness as the vehicle drives
You begin to slip into horde mode

Force myself to stay awake long enough to get to HQ. Have team 1 set up to hold our section of wall and the guard unit move to HQ.

If any wall sections get into trouble guard squads reinforce them.

Go to the med area before I let horde mode take me.

you lose control right before the transport enters the walls
(you weren't driving)
you are in control of a heavily wounded zed with a large horde over looking the town
there are tens of other hordes charging the town
