We could use fats, oils and tallows to keep such items from rusting.

Basically I don't think "divine materials" should necessarily be rust-proof or indestructible.

Certainly the metals of swords and armor held by the divine should be some sort of weapon's grade material superior to steel..

If I were a deity capable of creating new materials, I would probably make ones that didn't react with oxygen for my weapons. Think "solid noble gases."

Aren't divine materials even more finite and difficult to obtain than adamantine? I don't see why you'd want such a thing to rust.

Divine metal properties are intended to be randomized in the future, I think. Potentially even with magical effects, given the whole god spheres thing.

The Norse Gods certainly didn't get that choice, neither did the Greek Gods.

The ability for dieties to outright create things were often limited in mythology... and they didn't necessarily have the ability to just freely do so either.

Either taking time, effort, resources, will, their own essence... Or yeah maybe the diety just has super create whatever metal they want powers. But even with that they may not be able to just pick any ability for them.

Dieties are a lot more limited in Mythology then people like to bring up (I blame this on Monotheism where dieties tend to be all powerful omnipotent omnisentient beings who have practically no limits.)

We can't be sure what will happen to artifacts in the future but for now they're indestructible. Wouldn't make sense for an artifact iron flute to last forever when a sword made of divine metals rusts

Is that sword an artifact?

Even if they couldn't outright create stuff, they'd still want to use the best materials. Imagine if the gate to Tartarus was made from iron instead of adamantine.

I foresee this causing fps drain, unless toady makes less checks for it than clothes.

No, but like artifacts, it's the work of gods.
